i was just there dropping off a whole bag full for hems and some more complex stuff. i love their service. the seamstresses are extremely knowledgeable and have a good eye for fit.

specific to your jeans, if you think you will ever wear those with heels, bring those heels. if not, bring the shoes you are most likely to wear them with. the oxford and the ballet flat may have different profiles and you would prefer the front break in a different location based on the shoe you wear more frequently.

I've only used the nordstrom alterations once. I just showed up and went to a check out desk. They called a seamstress who came to the dressing room to measure me. The clothes were done in less than a week.

I had one pair of skinnies that I had altered, and I had them hemmed so that they would work with flats. The back of the hem were just barely off the floor. I think it really does depend on what you will wear them most with. If you think it's flats, hem to that length.

Good luck with the boots and alterations. The customer service is really great, so no worries

So I'm thinking of taking my NAS jeans in for hemming tomorrow (gulp) and wondered how Nordstrom's alterations service worked...do I just show up?

Anyone have any advice on hem length for the Paige straight legs, considering they fit more like skinnies??

http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....aight-legs

I was going to wear my flat oxfords with them, or maybe ballet flats (I'll bring both). I am almost always going to be tucking my skinnies into boots - I don't need to bring those, do I? I am going to be double checking the size of the Aquitalia booties (another possibility with the skinnies, so I can try those on as well. I guess what I'm looking for is appropriate scrunch, but I'm not sure that really changes so much depending on footwear, does it? Maybe with heels.

http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....n-skinnies
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....-still-nas

Any other tips? I'm nervous! I'm off to wash the denim now - rip the tags off, inside out, cold water, 1/2 cup vinegar. Just one wash, do you think? (Air dry) I'm only washing two pairs - I was going to do a "small" load - I think 1 cup of vinegar sounds like a lot (I've seen that suggested elsewhere).
