I returned a pair of TOMS shoes to Nordstrom, 3 months after purchase, because the soles broke (literally). My previous pair of TOMS had lasted 2 years, with similar usage, so 3 months was unacceptable wear-and-tear to me.

I sent in my return by mail and marked "quality" as the reason code on the form. I also added a post-it note explaining why I was returning a pair of clearly worn shoes... don't know if the note was necessary, but the return was processed without any further inquiries or hassle.

i have no experience with mail returns but i just wanted to add that i've found loose buttons to be a constant problems on more high-end items. i've taken to just reinforcing the buttons before i wear them, but really i shouldn't have to do that.

I have returned a blouse that started coming apart at the seam after having it for a couple of months (I only wore it about 6 or 7 times and felt that this was not sufficient time for it to wear out). I could not fix it because the fabric just kept disintegrating near the seam. I sent it to Nordstrom and got my money back, no questions asked.

They'll take it back. Since you'd be returning by mail, I would call customer service and explain you're having quality issues after only 2 wearings and you'd like to return the item and get their verbal assurance it's okay to send it back. I'm 99% positive you won't have any problems sending it back.

I've never returned anything to Nordstrom's via mail. I always do my returns in person and have NEVER had a problem returning something there.

That being said, if the buttons are the only problem with the sweater, I'd just sew them back on. Even with the backing button, that's not difficult to do.

http://www.learning-alteration.....utton.html

Backing buttons and thread can be found at any fabric store.

So, I am pondering how much Nordstrom's really stands behind their products. I bought a Nic and Zoe Cardigan and wore it twice. First time no issues.

Second time I wore it, on Christmas Eve no less, it lost a button in the middle of the sweater and gaped all Christmas. The top button is hanging by a thread, and it lost the button on the back (there is a front and back button for each button).

I have a back-up botton for the middle that came with it, but I can't find matching thread. I also have no back up button for the top back button.

I am terribly disappointed. I had thought the quality would be higher than this, especially from Nordstrom's. The same sweater I have in a different color has held up well. Wondering if the two colors just had different quality.

Has anyone ever returned something like this via mail to Nordstroms? Did they take it back?
