The best answer I can give you is: it depends. Generally we need some sort of proof of purchase but we do make exceptions in certain circumstances. They might have an issue if you can't show that you bought it from them. What happens when someone buys an item off eBay that's a Nordie's brand and then goes in to return it with no receipt? It is indeed a Nordstrom item, but not purchased directly from the store itself. Does that matter? I ask not because I would be trying to 'get over' on them in any way, just in case an item I'm interested in does not fit. Interestingly, the cost is pretty much retail in this case lol. It's just a sold out size . . . </p>
