Yes, this sounds very odd. Nordstrom wouldn't have different policies by store! I wonder what was going on...

So weird. Can't believe they would lose your business like that. Not good CS. I'm sorry!

I have done it in the past over the phone with no problems at all. So I wonder if it is a new policy or my store specifically.

I just used the live chat to price match the other day--my first price match ever--and it was a great experience. They even matched free shipping, because the other site had free shipping too. I haven't gotten the item yet but I was very impressed.

I did have an SA in the store in jewelry, and one in shoes, and one in a clothing department (I can't remember if it was POV or what?) tell me I can bring in a printout and they will price match. Maybe that is just my store (Mall of America)?

Funny that I somehow talked about price matching with so many different departments. . .I can't recall if it was over multiple visits.

I do feel that if I get a printout I better get to the store on the same printout day, and that's why Live Chat is so convenient. . .

Just to update you folk on the price-match situation - I spoke to everybody possible, the CSR at the shoe desk, customer service and finally tried the live help online a second time. What I gathered from the conversation is that the website price-matches stores and other websites. But each store has their own policy and they may not always price-match.
The Live Help operator was very helpful. She got on the phone with the store customer service and verified this.

Unfortunately, the shoe was not available online anymore so they refused to price-match it. I offered to send them a screen-capture of the webpage with the lower price which I had saved when I initially made this post but no dice. They eventually ended up matching the price on Zappos which was also lower.

Needless to say, I am quite disappointed by this state of affairs and will definitely think twice before buying shoes in the store.

General policy is: Nordstrom will not be undersold. If you see the item for less elsewhere, let us know and we will match it. Sometimes we will call the competitor to verify (so that people don't trick us) but generally we trust our customers. Printing out an online page or whatever is a good idea too.

That's weird. I have matched all kinds of stuff, some of which wasn't even in stock on the site I was trying to match, and they did it gladly. Can you talk to another rep?

Sara, I am not sure.

I ordered a pair of shoes in-store but it shipped from a different store. I tried Live Chat and they told me to call the store. I spoke with the Customer Service Depart (the overall store one, not the shoe department specifically) and they told me about the price-match with local stores.

I think I will do as you suggest and go to the store with a print-out.

Hmm, unless they recently changed it. . . Did you call a store or call the 1-800 number? That might make a difference.

If I want to order online, then I usually use Live Chat and they ask for the website/product page address to look into it. Then they disappear with the info for a few minutes and come back and match (or not).

I've had two SAs tell me that if I print out the online item and bring it into the store, they would price match in person. I haven't done that yet.

How does it work exactly? In the past they have been able to match prices for online stores. I called them today to see if they would match the price on a pair of shoes but they told me they could match prices only if the other store is in the sama geographical region.
