I have had a handful of hairstylists that I was "trying out" for one cut but wasn't satisfied with them when I lived elsewhere during college. There were three stylists I went to multiple times - one while growing up, one that I finally found in college, and then my current (and hopefully not former) stylists that I've been seeing for the last 5 years. This was by far the easiest "working relationship" I've ever had in terms of trust. It took me 2 years and lots of errors to find someone decent, after my hairdresser for the past 12 years went back to his country of origin. I like my new guy but I still don't trust him implicitly. I trusted my old hairdresser so much I asked him to cut my hair short in a style of his preference. I loved the result. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!</p> <p>Christieanne, I actually ended up sneakily searching through the forum to find Angie's hair salon (Studio 150 in Kirkland) because I know she gets amazing short haircuts. The stylist Angie actually sees is really busy because she owns the studio, but I asked the receptionist if she could recommend someone else at the salon who does a good job with short razor cuts. That is my plan - going in with pictures to show her what my hair cut looks like "fresh", sharing where my trouble spots tend to be as it gets longer, and asking her if she can more or less follow the lines of my current cut. I'm worried, first of all, because I really feel that she has become a friend over the last few years. My mom, sister, and sister's good friend have all come to get our hair cut with her as well, and we've followed her to a couple different salons. I hope she's all right. I always look forward to chatting with her. I have her personal email address handy and have reached out to let her know I'm thinking of her, hoping she is on the mend, trying not to pry.</p> <p>Selfishly, though, I'm also really bummed because I LOVE her cuts. She knows what I like, and REALLY knows how to flatter my hair and my face. I hardly have to give any direction, and she knows just what to do - I've never been unhappy with a haircut from her from day one. I've never had a hair stylist who is this consistently good and intuitive at knowing what will work best on me without my having to say very much. *sigh* I just do not want to "break in" a new stylist! </p>
