Auburn, that's a really funny coincidence! My Madewell jeans also fit me well with no gaping at the waist. I had to get mine hemmed though (they will do it for you for $15).

Freckles: I always had more woven tops than the average 25-26 year old with a casual workplace, I think...but nowadays I've started wearing more, not because of muffin top issues but because of YLF influence knits just seem less fab to me, especially if they're not new (pilling, stretching out, etc.)

Sigh. Even if I wear a top over and it looks okay I find with those type of pants that they bag and the muffin just gets worse looking throughout the day. Grrr.

Glad to hear that yours don't stretch. Are woven tops you new best friends?

Funny, I was just about to post a recommendation for the Madewell Rail Straight jeans I picked up on Friday. I am LOVING them! I got the dark wash and they fit perfectly through the legs (although the style is such that they are cut quite close--almost a skinny jean but not quite) and for once, they also fit perfectly at the waist! Often jeans that fit my thighs well bag at the waist. Also, the length allows for just enough scrunch at the ankles that these are perfect with flats. And the price point is great--I will definitely be picking up more from Madewell!

krishnidoux, I think low-rise jeans will do this to anyone who doesn't have rock-hard abs. But I don't mind as I wear skinny jeans with blousy tops all the time.

I have a similar problem with a really nice pair of Benetton skinny jeans, and I'm too skinny myself. So it must be a bad cut.

I've been wearing these Madewell skinny jeans for over a month now and they're really great (but I've never experienced the glory of premium denim). They fit me really well (pearish thighs) and don't bag out very much. My only complaint with them is that they're pretty low-rise...not low-rise enough to be uncomfortable, but low rise enough to give me a slight muffin-top, and I have a fairly flat stomach (though no toned abs). So I prefer wearing them with woven tops.
