I’m asking because I’ve been using good earplugs at sporting events for a few years, which helps a little, but the noise levels are getting even louder now. Tonight’s basketball game music was running into the 90-95 decibel level and sometimes higher. I’d like to cancel the noise but I don’t want to listen to other music or audiobooks during sports events. I use AirPods at home for listening to books, but everything is quiet there, no background noise. Meanwhile I used the airplane provided movie headphones and was not as bothered? At home I do love my Soundcore over ear noise cancelling headphones (mentioned in a previous thread) for chores and gardening but it never occurs to me to travel with them due to size. Loops don't last long enough for the really long haul, so I used both on each leg, and it really does cut down on stress/ allows you to rest more. But those didn't fit my head right (they kept sliding no matter how I tried to adjust them). So I use my Airpods Pro and actually, they are surprisingly good.
