I struggle with patterned shoes too. It feels a little like conceding defeat. ;-)</p> <p>For the moment, I think I'm keeping all the shoes in the photos I posted. The tiger stripe kitten heels come in handy for my funeral capsule, believe it or not. I wear them with my black or grey trousers (which are not long enough to wear a higher heel with) and a simple black or dark patterned blouse, since I have no other appropriate shoes for that kind of thing unless I wear booties. I also like them peeking out from bootcut jeans from time to time. I'm struggling a little more with the dragonfly/floral print kitten heels, as pretty as they are. I fell in love with the print and talked myself into thinking I'd make the effort to style them, and I've only bothered to do so a couple of times. I may give it another shot before selling them. They're also not very comfortable. Such were the decisions I was making while shopping two years ago, ugh. </p> <p>The platform bow pumps are on notice. I've had them for 7 years I think? I know I wore them to the first Obama inauguration (one of the balls). And I've worn them to a function with my husband a couple of times, as they added a little something more to a pretty traditional looking dress at the time. I've hung onto them thinking I might need them to spark up that same dress, but we don't go to that particular function anymore, so maybe it's time to reevaluate keeping that whole outfit. Hmmm. Well, at least the practice of dragging my shoes out for review has got me thinking more critically about what I hang onto and why. I did the same thing a few years back ---- went nuts and bought lots and lots of 'dressy' shoes. In my case, 'dressy' meant pumps with impractical sky-high heels. In reality, I struggle with anything over 2inches....so those only looked nice on my shoe rack and on my feet To be fair, heels DO LOOK AND MAKE ME FEEL SEXY and all womanly </p> <p>Well, they're all gone now. That's why I keep the ones I keep. Those patent sandals in #1 are positively ancient but somehow don't look dated to me. I have an occasion about once a year when nothing else seems right but those shoes do. In fact, I wore them with flare jeans, my watercolor print Tahari silk tank, and my long black BCBG jacket to my art opening a couple of months ago. After five hours on my feet, they were killing me, but that's unusual that I would be standing that much in them. </p> <p>Those tiger print kitten heels in #4 are actually really comfortable and they look nice peeking out of bootcut jeans. Yes, dressy for one person is everyday for another. Dressy for me is mostly pertaining to pumps. My Rockstuds are dressy (and if someone told me I had to get rid of all but one pair of dressy shoes in my closet, those are the ones that would stay). </p> <p>Here are photos of the shoes I have that are "dressy" for me.
