Yes, get jeans now. Buy one or two pairs of less expensive ones, but styles and washes that you really like. Don't settle for just what is inexpensive. You want to look and feel good! When I found myself in your situation, I went to Lucky. They aren't the least expensive jeans, but they are reasonable, they have styles I like, and they always have sales.

Another vote here for boyfriend or girlfriend jeans from the Gap or Ann Taylor, where they carry a lot of jeans in different cuts and fabrics, or from Old Navy, where most sizes seem to fit more loosely. They won't break the bank, and you'll feel much better having a pair of jeans that feel comfortable until you are able to go back to your favorites. The effect of having only too-tight pants in your closet is depressing, I know--especially in hot weather!

Buy the jeans! It will be a niggling irritation if you don't. And why not get one pair, and enjoy them! Really wear them. And then toss them when you lose the weight. But it's important to look and FEEL good for now.

Since you are really missing your jeans, and as you have many opportunities for wearing jeans, I would say: Of course you should buy yourself a good pair of jeans (or two pairs!) for the size you are now. Perhaps choose a pair with some stretch in it. Jeans at reasonable prices can likely be found at H&M, Cubus, KappAhl, Lindex, Zara or Vivikes.

Why not a pair of BF jeans (one size up) worn low with belts, and tops front tucked. You can get one at the cheaper stores, but Gap has fab ones. For the summer, you can pair with a white tee and a woven belt; roll the bottom and wear with tennis/sandals/loafers. Add a smart jacket. Add a hat; when Fall comes, unroll the bottom and wear with booties that match the leather belt (or complements it). Borrow a V-neck ample sweater from BF, father, brother - or, like did, son! - and wear it with only a cami underneath, front tucked. Add a scarf and you are good to go.

Definitely get yourself a pair of jeans that fits the body you have now. You don't have to spend a lot of money, but it will make your life a lot easier to have a pair to fall back on. Also, if you should ever have weight fluctuation again in the future, it will be nice to know that you're covered.

Buy jeans! I recommend Loft, if those fit you well - there's almost always a sale, and the quality is nice for the price. You may not want to buy premium denim yet. ON jeans are also a steal and would last enough to make good transitional pieces. You may only want one kind of basic pair (dark wash and straight legged maybe) right now, but I think you'll be glad you bought them.

Yep, if you think your weight is temporarily up and don't want to invest a lot in some jeans, i would go to Gap or ON or even check out the jeans rack at Nordstrom Rack or TJM/Marshalls for some budget-friendly options. But it sounds like you need a pair or two to dress the body you have right now.

Thanks, Liz, Traci and Sara L!

I only wear jeans 2 (max 3) times a week, but for the last two months I haven't worn them at all. I have missed them from time to time, but I have never been unable to dress. That's what holding me back from going to the store - and I'm on a little shopping hiatus. Should I make a challenge and have fun with what I already have?

I'm keeping my white jeans out of this matter because they are not suited for activities with the kids, tidying or cooking.

Five months ago I bought two pair of jeans and they instantly pulled together a number of FFBO. I realised that jeans in a medium to light wash is a wardrobe essential for me. However, due to weight fluctuation they now are about one size too small and feel tight and uncomfortable.

I need some help to decide whether or not to buy one pair of fitting jeans - or just go by with other options until I'm back to my preferred weight. I don't want spend much on "transition jeans" and I don't have the time for a real hunt. I might find a decent pair on the summer sale, though.

I know I can get by without the jeans this summer and autumn. I have a pair of olive cargoish pants that can substitute and I really like my pure blue chinos for summer. (Well, so far this summer is sooo "unsummery" with 10-15 C / 50-59 F.) I also have skirts and dresses for casual days, but crave bare legs (which is too cold these days).

On the other side, a good pair of jeans is such an easy piece that pulls together an outfit, especially when autumn comes. Many of my tops gets more wear with jeans and my lifestyle and environment (work, family, friends) are very jeans friendly.
