It looks more effortless. Not having to wear a belt is my holy grail of denim style...I guess because while the low-rise trend was going full force, I always needed a belt or the jeans would slide off my flat bum! I don't really have the torso length for high-rise, but I wear 'em anyway, only with a low-contrast top and semi-tucked (not fully tucked, which REALLY draws attention to the waist!). A belt would just add a focal point and extra bulk to an area that isn't my best feature, ya know? Plus, the one glorious bonus of high-rise jeans is that THEY DON'T SLIDE DOWN, even without a belt!</p> <p>FWIW, I don't see any of the sweet young trendy things wearing belts with their high-rise jeans.
