Both shoes go with dress, in my opinion. The black go with the dress, the pewter will be more of a nude effect next to your skin.
I can understand obsessing over details like you describe, though I don't see anything jarring in your photo of the new sandal-booties. They are awesome. If I didn't already have the ones below, I would be all over them myself.

I have distressed metallic color sandals and I love them. I was worried at first about the same thing, but I don't think anyone else notices. And they look more distressed than the ones you are considering.

I hear you on paying more exacting attention if the item is pricey! I bought these sandals last year and initially felt the same way about the finish, but I wore them constantly and grew to appreciate the finish the more I wore them. I am no fan of distressing, but I feel it helps the metallic seem more luxe. Before these, I had a pair of metallic Coach shoes with no distressing and they were impossible to keep perfect--too shiny and vulnerable.

Only you know what will bother you, but I can't recommend these enough for comfort and versatility.

They are super cool. I also would find the heel height a dealbreaker for myself. I do flip flop on expensive items. I'm on record here for doing that! The shoes look awesome.

I think it is intentional and actually "makes" the look--much softer and probably more versatile, more neutral, than a shiny flat leather. More casual, too, of course but that it the style. They look fab to me.

I agree with lisap about distressing. A mirror finish silver would be different, but these are meant to be a softer color I think.

I can be incredibly picky about color and shape with some things, and also have a small budget, so that gets frustrating especially when I'm trying to match a color like camel, or trying for optic whites versus winter whites. Also I don't like gold hardware so then have to decide whether it's worth bypassing something because of the color of a zipper, lol.

I don't notice it, and I think distressing should be random and uneven , or it looks too , well, fake. These are the best shoes ever - I have been lusting over them since seeing them in Nord last month. If they didn't have a peep toe, I"d have bought them on the spot, regardless of how $$ they are here.

2. I completely understand. I'm the same way with noticing tiny imperfections others probably don't see, as well as second-guessing my purchases.

I purchased these sandals yesterday beacause they had been on my radar for a while and it helped that it was a Nordstrom triple points day. Then last night, I was obsessing whether the slight distressing of the metallic finish is too uneven in places and distracting. This morning I took this picture and I think that I am the only one who would even notice - classic overthink!

Do you ever do this? I wish I could be more confident in my decisions and not waffle so much. Any advice?
