It’s softer, nicer material than the houndstooth. The insert attaches with two zippers, one on each side, and three buttons at the collar — easy to switch out in less than a minute.</p> <p>Also pics of the Veronica Beard. Completely different style and vibe. I like it with bootcuts/flares. I hate my rear view but I wanted to try to show the pleat detail which is really cute. The cropped swing silhouette is out of my usual wheelhouse but I love the colors and the vibe. I have multiple options that cover all kinds of weather, occasions and outfits. Some are redundant but loved. I have a hard enough time finding longer outerwear that fits both my top and bottom halves, that I often feel like I need to grab and keep the options that actually fit me! It works with or without the insert. I love the layered look but in my part of the world, two jackets or coats layered would be too warm much of the time. I love these dickey/convertible styles for that reason. The back has an adorable pleated detail that gives it a cropped swing silhouette. And I love the colors. There was one of these coats left, in a size M, and I decided to bring it home to see if it had any promise in my wardrobe.</p> <p>For the price point, it’s a nice piece — the lining is decent, it’s solidly constructed, and fits TTS in a slightly oversized way that is current. I’m trying it on here with black pants and boots just to get a sense of the overall proportion on me. It’s a long coat and may be a little awkward on someone short. The double breasted style is not usually my favorite on my body type, but this version is a better fit than most. </p> <p>I’m not sure I have a need for it in my already-bountiful outerwear collection, especially since I bought the Bernardo coat at NAS this year (pic 5), but I at least wanted to share my impressions in case anyone else is eyeing it.</p> <p>I tried and rejected the dress that Christina tried — it was a nice print but the neckline and sleeves were not for me. And a faux leather skirt was fun but not quite right either — although it made me want a good faux leather skirt! </p>
