This looks like a good advice... Specially coz I'll probably end up walking even though this are 'run easy' shoes.

Rachylou, BC will check out new balance though Nike remains a personal fav.

Alexandra, good idea, will search for Nike outlet nearby.

Beth Ann, if I'm being honest, the last pair was also bought for running. But I never got around that and it was delegated to winter wear 2/3 months on/off use. This time I bought an expensive pair not only because I fear injury relapse but I was also hoping it'd motivate me to start exercising. Screwed up thinking...?

Well, this pair can be your experiment -- after 500 miles, you can decide whether to replace with a duplicate, or choose a more economical version. Or, you could wear these for longer runs, and a less expensive pair for recovery runs or shorter distances.

I like Nike for running. At 6 miles/day, that's pretty heavy use, especially if you only have the one pair and use them every day. I wouldn't run in shoes that have more than 500 miles on them. The padding gets worn out and it's not worth risking injury. If money is an issue, I'd suggest buying from a Nike outlet. They may be last year's model or a color that didn't sell well, but the prices would be much lower.

We go with New Balance, and did go to the store for a gait analysis. That was really helpful. My DD is a runner, so her shoes get replaced more frequently than mine.

I personally go with New Balance, for various orthopedic reasons, but they're not cheap either - and definitely replace every quarter.

Me too, Diana... Mainly elliptical.

Last year while practising classical dance I suffered a ligament injury that took almost 3 months to be heal completely. I never liked hard ground much and was off elliptical due to this injury. I bought this from a bnm store to be sure they'll fit well. (I jumped in the store....I know, I know)
And I don't want to risk injury again, specially on hard ground.

Jenn, Muffin... You are probably right. Actually my company trainer gave six(!) months to this shoes on hard ground.

I wa going to say exactly the same thing as Jenn. I don't even run in my running shoes, just use them on the elliptical and such, and I need to replace them every 9 months or so. I can feel the loss of cushion and bounce and that's when I know I need to get new ones.

That said, if they fit your foot/stride and are comfy, I'd say good athletic shoes are definitely worth it.

You can often find last season's styles/colors on Amazon and other sites for cheaper if you look around.

Okay, so last time I hardly used them to run. Or even walk. They were more footwear option for winter, you know. This time I'm serious about atleast walking, coz I know I won't be running much. So do I still change them in 3 months?!
And if yes, then should I buy cheaper version next time?

I agree with Jenn. Not replacing often enough can add to injuries. I've had the best luck going to speciality running stores and having a gait analysis & getting the right shoe for me. Sometimes these have not been the coolest colors but they've also been far less expensive.

Running shoes deteriorate over time and with use. Ideally for your feet, you should replace them after about 500 miles so, at 6 miles/day, that'd be about 3 months. I hate to say it, but yes, I think trying to get four years of regular use out of a pair of running shoes is expecting too much and could leave you with foot issues by the end.

Bought a pair of Nikes, with Nike zoom technology. Will try to find and add here. (How do I do that?)
It's for $200. That's expensive for me and I literally blew my whole fashion budget and then some and then some more on it.
I think of it as an investment in health. The other options were cheaper but this was the best. I've done some weird calculations (don't ask me how) and decided that if they last me 4 months of almost regular use ( ya, I'm that cheap) of 6 miles a day.... It'd be worth my commitment to my health.

Question: Do you think it's worth it? And am I expecting too much or too little of my shoes?

Prev pair of reebok junior (yes, my size) lasted 3 years of non continuous use.

ETA: bought them for a charity pinkathon next month. Thought I'd get my new year health resolution started as well.

ETA2: didn't realise I'd written 4 years! Instead of months.
