I actually rather liked the turtleneck sweater Nicole, and cream is definitely a gorgeous colour on you.
The skirt outfit is amazing, and I would never have thought of pairing brown boots with grey tights and a cream skirt. You're inspiring me!

I like your hair both ways as well, and thank you for taking pictures in your living room (I immediately noticed the new location - it's not that I obsessively study every background, but it's just something that I notice;-)

And now I can't wait to see your new haircut!

Nicole, that cream cord skirt is fab, as are the boots. They are so jaunty! (Wow, I don't use that word very often!). I actually don't mind the turtleneck and it looks like a particularly cozy one at that, but I do see how the neckline of your favorite black and cream sweater is more flattering. Still, from time to time, why not?

Your boots collection really inspires me!

I wish I read your post before making mine! Well, at least now I know what response to expect...

I love the combination of neutrals in the skirt picture. It looks like the tights are gray (are they?). You have inspired me to try something similar. I almost always wear rich colors, and if I don't, I feel kind of timid about mixing neutrals but it worked out great for you. I don't think the black and cream is too stark.

I honestly don't think the turtleneck looks bad. Sure it's not as flattering as the more conventional options, but I know I have definitely been bored wearing (and avoiding) the same necklines over and over again. Sometimes I'm willing to wear something a little less flattering just for a breath of fresh air (but only a little).

Hair can go either way as far as I can tell. Sometimes changing your part helps give it a little bit of volume.

Nicole, I forgot to comment on the skirt/top combo - it looks great and I love the chestnut boots with the black & cream. I think your hair looks nice parted either way. The new way seems to balance out the volume of your hair but that could just be because your hair is not used to it.

Now I see what the others are saying about the shoulder/arm fit. The black top looks much better and I think part of the reason is the better fit in the arms. I also like the idea of throwing a jacket over the turtleneck outfit. Do you still have that pool blue sleeveless cowl neck top from BR? I think that would like nice with these pants and a cardi.

(Of course I don’t mind, Tarzy. Good find! This forum is about supporting each other and we’ll do whatever it takes).

The pants look fabulous and I LOVE the effect of the long necklace! The pants also look wonderful with the new boots. You look GREAT in cream. It’s a very good colour on you. The polo neck fits quite well through the torso. The arms don’t fit well though – too baggy. I do not prefer polonecks for you my dear Nicole, but they are warm and you live in a cold place and this is your only one. The elongating effect of the necklace on the poloneck helps a lot.

I LOVE the skirt outfit. WOOOHOO! The contrast is pretty and the brown boots are unexpected. You were right to pick the brown boots over the black for this outfit. Are you wearing grey opaques?

Your hair looks nice parted on both sides.

Thanks everyone! You all are so sweet!

Shana, I'm glad my tunic commets helped you. I'm flattered. I really don't have a tiny waist though.

Sarah, I dont have a denim jacket anymore--but I like the idea of wearing something over the turtleneck sweater. I've been wanting to try a button vest, but finding one to fit my bust has been challenging. I'm reluctant to purge this sweater just yet.

Tarzy, thanks for thinking of me. I find it so endearing the way we all have moments thruout our days where we think of each other. I'll look into that link a little later--Im sure Angie does not mind you sharing info that will benefit us.

San, I'm glad you commented on my house--I intentionally took the photo from a different part of the house because I figure everyone is getting sick of looking at that print. I am ready to replace that print now though--I've had it for almost 9 years and my tastes have changed dramatically. I would love to help you pick out colors. I love doing that kind of thing. It is helpful to me to know if your goal is to coordinate with an existing piece of furniture, art or rug, or if you want to create a certain mood for a room, and also what your general decorating style is: modern, eclectic, contemp/transitional, traditional, country. Oh, and I'm not offended to be called cute--bring it on, Sistah!

Hi Nicole, you look fantastic. Love the micro check pants. The turtleneck is okay; I don't think there is a bust issue, but it would look better if the arms would be more fitted, the looseness in the upper arms adds unneccesary bulk.
Love you in the skirt outfit. The colors work great and those boots are just so cute.

Hi Nicole, you know, I do like your hair parted on the new side. I switch sides I part my hair on because it becomes flat after it stays on one side for a long time. Also some of us have thicker hair on one side more than the other.
I thought both your outfits were just great. I think the long necklace over the turtleneck sweater gives a nice long line to your torso.
I also thought the skirt outfit was so cute on you. (I have a big habit of using the word cute. Some people may not want to be 'cute' but I mean it in only a good way, and I am trying to retrain myself. So far I am at the point of noticing, sometimes, when I use that word 'cute' for grown up women.) Anyway, the boots you are wearing are a more casual look than the black ones might have been. I think both looks are good.
I love your house and the color on your walls. You are really talented. I wish I had that talent. I think I will post pictures of my livingroom soon so you can help me choose paint color. Please?

Hi Nicole, those micro check pants ( and boots) look amazing on you, I really envy you on both. The turtleneck is so-and so in my opinion - it's not bad, but I've seen you in much nicer fitting tops. I like the suggestions you got about trying it under vest/jacket or with thin belt.

I absolutely adore the outfit with cream cord skirt- gorgeous! I like it with the brown boots. Black with work too, and in that case I'd add a touch of red somewhere.

I like your hair both ways - I guess I am not of much help there.

Nicole, the microchecks look fantastic on you. The turtleneck's boxiness doesn't bother me but I like Sarah's idea of a jacket over it to define the waist, or maybe a vest? A long narrow scarf with the ends making a strong vertical line against the top is another idea.
I like your hair with the new part and think the whole second outfit is super!

Disclaimer, I love turtlenecks for their warmth so it's hard for me to find fault in them. I think the outfit with the turtleneck is ok, but agree with the others that it isn't the most flattering thing I've seen you in. Could you belt it for more definition?

The skirt outfit is great.

Hair, I like it in the picture with the skirt. Sometimes changing sides of the part (if your cut allows, which yours does) can add volume and interest that's nice.

Hi Nicole, I really like the Gap Microcheck pants! They look great on you. I don't think the turtleneck is very flattering though. I agree with Shana that i looks a bit boxy.

I like the skirt ad sweater combo. I think it looks great! I'm not an expert on mixing black and brown, so my personal preference would be to wear black boots. But now that I think about it, the brown might be a good neutral choice. Sorry, I'm not too helpful, but I'm sure others will have some better feedback. :)

Also, I like your hair both ways! Side-swept bangs really suit you and I think they look fine either way. It it is hard to train your hair to go in a different direction when you change your part!

Nicole,
I don't think there is a problem with the turtleneck, I think that the color softens you and the pants look great!
I love the outfit with the skirt, not too stark and definitely brown boots. I think black would be too predictable. They all fall into the neutral range, therefore balance. I wonder if the idea of a darker top and lighter bottom balances your feeling about a large bust? This outfit works better for me than the first. As far as your hair, I honestly can not see a huge difference, it looks great both ways! Would love it if you could make it to the open house

Hi Nicole,

Fab microcheck pants - I have the same ones! I think the turtleneck looks boxy. I know it's hard to pull off a turtleneck with a larger bust but you have such a teeny waist. Maybe something more fitted/with more lycra would taper in more at the waist and would work better? In all honesty, I wear this kind of look too and this is usually how it looks on me so maybe someone else will have better input!

BTW, I wanted to thank you for your feedback on the tunic/skinnies I tried a couple of weeks ago. You were totally right - it wasn't working on me and I really appreciate your feedback. We do have similar body types (although my waist is thicker!) so your input is especially valuable.

Here are one of my Gap Microchecks:

http://s289.photobucket.com/al.....mas003.jpg

I have a question about the sweater. I don't usualy wear turtlenecks (this is the only one I own). I thought it worked because the bottom 2/3 of the sweater has a wide tonal ribbing effect that stops just over my bust. But now that I see this photo, I'm no sure I should be wearing it.

http://s289.photobucket.com/al.....mas004.jpg

This is a cream cord skirt and my favorite black and cream sweater. Is the black too stark next to the cream? Should I have worn black boots instead of brown?

Also, I've started parting my hair on the other side. (the plaid pants photo is how I used to part it, the black sweater photo is how I've been parting it for a week or two). It was a pain to retrain my hair to go the other way, and my hairdresser didn't trim them enough, so now I'm really fighting with it. I need to call her and see when I can stop in for a bang tune up. But does one way look better than the other?

Thanks!
