Oh okay, I never would have thought to try a belt with that AT white shirt--because of the rouching. Today's my day off--and I have a haircut this morng, and lunch with my girlfriend--so probably wont do the AT top today...but I'll keep it in mind for next week. Maybe today I'll look for an elasticized belt.

Quite right Nicole and good points Mirah. How about the length of the white button down ruched shirt from AT? A partially elastic belt is comfortable but not imperative. Try a skinny belt too. No blouson-ing necessary and lets experiment with belt widths.

I hear you about your bust line playing a role in the height of the belt. We shan’t have your girls looking saggy. Promise!

I am not an expert on belts but I think if the blouse were about 2-3 inches longer hitting below the hipbone, then the belt would look more balanced at its current width and placement. Thinking about the pant length tops vs the skirt length tops here. Maybe this particular blouse is just not the correct length for belts unless you wear a skinny belt and wear it higher up (which isnt the best option for you as you said).

Angie...do you mean that if the shirt were longer (and the belt more elastic) it would look more proportionate? I'm not sure how long the shirt should be? Should the shirt blouson out over the top of the belt? And how wide should my belt be?

Maya definitely has a point about the height of the belt being affected by my bustline. If I go too high with any belt, it makes my boobs look low and saggy.

It looks like it's going around your belly to me. Maybe because the shirt is short, as Angie said.

But you are busty so you may have to wear your belt lower than usual. Perhaps a slightly thinner belt too.

I think it looks "low" because the blouse is short. The colours are very pretty. I have to say that with the right pieces you will rock this look, Nicole. It makes you look deliciously hourglass-y. LOVE the blue toes.

You need a belt with give, partially elastic works well for me.

Nicole I love the color combos of the outfit, very Springish. However I'm not sure about the belt.

I found that it's hard to keep a belt over a blouse in place. It might be better to put it over the cardi or a fitted top.

:D you are fun ! i love the coral white and grey together. Even without the belt it'd look great if the belt makes you uncomfortable.. btw do u mind my asking, where did u get that coral cardi? Its a lovely color. I am having the hardest time finding cardigans in colors that would be flattering

It is? Oh, I guess it is! Sorry (sheepish grin). I think maybe my waist is high, but torso is long or something, so I'm used to seeing belts higher (I mostly just see them on me). Maybe I'm just desperate for you to find a way to wear a waist belt because I like it on you so much.

You're funny Nicole!
I thought the whole look was flattering on you. I am wondering if a belt made of something stretchy would stay in place better? I have no experience with this, just wondering if that would be the case.

I'm not a huge fan of how the belt looks anyway. I think it breaks you up. Part of the reason your shirt might not be working with it is because it's not really on your waist. I find hip belts annoying because of the reason you mentioned. Waist belts tend to stay put since they're lodged in the crook of your waist.

Other than that, I like the outfit.

The other night I went out to dinner in a belted getup. Bad idea. I was squirming to take it off. Perhaps I shouldn't have stuffed myself with amaretto ice cream.

I have to admit I'm always adjusting my belts when I wear them. It doesn't bother me too much (I love how they look so much), but I understand it can get annoying. It would be easier if the darn thing would just stick in place.

Part of the problem I think is the fact that I will sit for 20 minutes, then have to up and get something, then sit for 10 minutes, then have to get up again. My whole day at work is up and down. The belt is comfortable either standing or sitting, but when I go back and forth, it shifts.

Nicole, I hear you on the belt issue. I generally like the way it looks but can't stand wearing it. I'm thinking of trying a really skinny belt to see if that reduces the yanking and futzing. That being said...I really like the look on you. Your color choices are fun and very spring and your sandals are perfect, blue toes & all I would try it again with a different belt and see if you had more success.

I thought I'd try the belted blouse under a cardi (thanks Ana). I ended up taking the belt off half way thru my morning because I felt like I was constantly pulling my shirt down and adjusting the belt.
