I love mock necks as well and find it hard to find great ones! I'll be following this thread with attention.
The only two I have are from Zalando Essentials, and their quality is OK. I don't know if Zalando is available outside Europe though...

Lands' End makes a cotton mock turtleneck in multiple colors. I usually have good luck with the quality of their products. I can't get the link to work but if you go to their web site you can find them under the category of Women's Knit Tops and Tees.

I have similar fit issues, and I like the fit of funnel neck tops--seen more often in heavier/chunkier sweaters than in the body con fits. The funnel neck doesn't have a seam around the neck and I prefer that. I'm currently looking for this item myself, so no recommendations at this time.

I am petite, and my neck is short. I love the coziness of a turtleneck around my neck in cold weather, but all I can find a turtlenecks that bow in on my neck. So I have been looking around to find mock neck tops - I think these have a ring of fabric at the neck that doesn't fold over - in other words, it looks like it laps over, but it's really only one layer - and that layer is sometimes shorter in height than a turtleneck neckline is when folded over.

Some of my tops I have to triple-fold the neck over, and sometimes it won't stay folded that way.

If you are short-of-neck too, have you found any tops like turtlenecks, that you like?
