This is so much fun, So great of you to do this and how fun that she is going to surprise her hubby with a skirt, Job Well Done!

I bought my single mother friend an entire thrifted wardrobe in her bohomian style for last Christmas after questioning her at length. She was floored at how accurate I was and that she had a new wardrobe for the first time in 7 years ( a real struggle and money problems as a single mother). It helped tremendously that I measured her and she and I have similar body size so I could try things on and get a feel for what would work for her. I packaged them up in outfits and colors and totally blew her away!

I wish I could do this for more women but she happened to be someone I know inside and out and felt safe to do so.

I have another friend I would love to take with me and walk her through finding a style as she loves my outfits and seems so envious while putting herself down..Maybe soon.

With the end of What Not to Wear We all could take this up and pay it forward!

It's really fun shopping for someone else (and such a trial shopping for yourself, IMO). I learned that shopping with Adelfa the other weekend.

...And also strangely different than shopping for your children... I mean older ones. Well, I guess the thing is, when you shop for your kids, they're very much all about *this is you and this is me* - not necessarily in a critical way, but they're all about differentiating themselves from you. And of course, it's your budget they're pushing the boundaries on. Hehe

I'm like your friend in that I wear down fast once I start shopping. I'm always raring to go and then about three stores in..... although I can definitely last longer when shopping with friends. Fun that you go to be an expert for a day!!

A fashion-averse friend had been asking me to help her go shopping, so Sunday we headed off for an afternoon of shopping. I'd never really tried to be the 'expert' for someone else so I was a little anxious, but it actually went quite well. She's very eco-conscious so we decided to start with second-hand stuff, thrift and consignment. I took her to the local consignment boutique, where I encouraged her to try on a bunch of things and we started narrowing down her size and what she was looking for. By the end of the day we'd gone to 3 stores and found her 6 items, including 2 complete outfits.

It was funny, though, in that she found it rather tiring and overwhelming and after the third store I thought 'hey, I'm just getting started'. She was happy (as was her husband - she actually bought a skirt!) and I had a good time as well. Just wanted to share with all of you, since YLF can be given partial credit for developing my 'expert eye'.
