Amy Isabella, I think you guys have talked me into a softer ombre. It will be easier to add more purple later if it isn't enough, and it will help me (and everyone who has to look at me) ease into it.

Robin, I like the idea of the daintier jewelry on those days when I'm feeling all serene and peaceful or whatever, and chunkier stuff on days I feel more assertive or whatever.

Suz & Smittie, I did get some brighter, more saturated tops at Target (must locate & download the widget so I can add them to my finds) but I'll probably pair them with some RATE/distressed bottoms to take some of the saccharine edge off of them, because I do have my limits with bright happy things LOL And I do agree that they would probably look off next to those grey pants in my finds.

JAileen, I know, pastels ARE weird coming from me LOL. I have resisted pastels since around the time I reached legal drinking age (probably as an overreaction to all those "Miami Vice" kind of colors I fell so hard for as a teen). I did acquire some new denim pants with some holes and fraying in them (I desperately needed new summer pants thanks to the way my life & job chew through clothes), so I haven't left my dark/despairing/emo side completely. And I still have all my shredded sweaters waiting to wrap me in their dark embrace when it gets cold again LOL

What an interesting development - from dystopian to pastel. Your hair is perfect for an ombre color. Of course, if you don’t change your hair, it’s still perfect. I think if your shoes aren’t too feminine, then your outfit won’t look too sweet.

Did you see this colour palette on Jacquez’s Thread:
https://www.buzzfeed.com/rache......klDJox0zP

?

This is so so cute.

A couple of things to note:
The featured individual’s colouring is warm, I think, yet she wears these cool pastelles anyway. I think it goes to show that you can wear colours outside your colour wheel and still look great!

Also, the items you have linked to are greyed, muted versions of pastels and so I think you need to be careful because muted pastels do not look great next to clear (white-based) pastels.

The Finds don't come across as saccharine. They are softened/ greyed/ slightly urbanized versions of the pastels. Plus, I think you can do a lot with the styling. The palette looks fantastic with grey hair (or ombre hair).

Love the ombre idea and the color scheme! So light and summery! I tend to smaller jewelry most times so that is what I picture but I also like the idea of chunkier jewelry to offset the "prettiness" of pastels.

JenniNZ, I actually prefer eating from work most of the time. Working at a produce stand has helped me eat less processed junk food. My fear with these colors is coming across as overly saccharine or whatever, which is why I asked for help from you wise folks XOXO

Main problem I see with the Dippin Dots ice creams is the incredible (over) sweet and (over) processed nature of those ice cream pics, they make me feel nauseous. But for wardrobe colours, sure, great! For eating, I'd much rather be at your produce stand!
Quite a cultural difference with North American foods to here.

LaPed, those jewelry pieces are stunning! Those would make a pastel outfit feel sort of futuristic and powerful.

Jewelry is such a personal thing - and hard to pick for someone else. I think bold or delicate could equally work well - depending on the piece and your own preference.

I like the color palette and I think with your tastes you will make it look cool and delicious rather than too sweet.

I also vote for ombre hair.

And speaking of navel and toe gazing: YLF has made me realize and understand so many things about my body! Never knew why shoes didn’t fit— oh, because my feet are narrow. Never knew why pants often cut into me at the crotch— oh, it’s because I have a long rise. So helpful!

Purple ombre sounds fabulous for you. Love this idea.

I like what LaPed said about jewellery, too.

It makes complete sense to me that you would be veering towards "palewave" now with the house recently complete and the weather hot. Most of us tend to lighter tones in summer when the light is long and bright (I do, anyway!). And I get the house/ wardrobe contrast, too. My house is almost totally "warm" colours. Blue is represented but warm, active blue. And our walls are mostly yellow, gold, sage/olive green (which is sort of neutral). We have orange oak/ pine floors, old orange pine furniture with lots of dents, scrapes, patina, lots of red accents....and I wear almost exclusively cool colours. I love warm tones but they don't suit my complexion so I surround myself with them and wear what flatters me better.

Jewelry: I’m loving all the chunky colorful resin jewelry available this summer. In your palette, it could look like candy sculpture!

Hair: I have such a tough time keeping bright color dyes in my hair. But I do use tinted shampoos - pink in summer, lavender in winter. It is just a hint of color that stays constant and doesn’t alternate between shocking and faded like dye does.

Have fun! I like the unexpected combo of pastels and minimalism. It’s like merging the millennial pastels /80s style comeback plus 90s clean silhouettes, like old Calvin Klein.

Your Finds are all so yummy! And I cannot wait to see the ombre hair... ;)

For jewelry, my first thought is bold chunky geometrics, to balance the gauziness of the fabrics and colours. Some inspo: https://www.samanthahowardvint.....ewellery-1

But if you wanted some smaller, daintier pieces of jewelry, that could totally work too. Tiny gold or brass geometrics paired with warm dusty pastels has a very arty-blogger-from-Palm-Springs vibe to me.

It’s all over the place in stores here, so I bet you can find some, and they have it in dippin dots colors......lavender, pale blue, pale pink, etc.

On the jewelry front... I thought I’d get into my reasoning... with a dippin’ dots palette... if you go delicate, I feel you’d want to stack for visual weight. A pale palette with delicate and sparse jewelry... you get into nursing home, 1950s Disneyland, blue hair lady style. Nothing wrong with that, but it IS tepid. I like that style in boyfriends, but I’ve never liked it for me... haha! :D

I LOVE the Dippin' Dots palette. SO FUN! I can't wait to see how you develop this idea.

Did you see the article on the woman with the personal "dress code" that I suggested for the last link roundup? Her color scheme is very "palewave" so you might get some ideas if you haven't already seen that piece.

I like the idea of ombre purple for your hair. And others mentioned chunky jewelry -- how about turquoise? There's a stone that comes in lots of Dippin' Dots shades of blue and green, and might mesh well with your Texas location.

Speaking of toe-gazing, Dippin' Dots colors could also be LOTS of fun for pedicures....

Hmm. You have been deep in thought!! How about an ombré purple... from deep to dippin’ dots?

I lean toward bold and chunky jewelry... cocktail rings, a big pendant...

I recently posted asking for help & advice about shopping for wide width shoes.

https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....ice-needed

I got a lot of helpful information from you ladies, for which I am eternally grateful. Since reading the responses, I've been taking navel gazing to the next level. I've been staring at my toes, trying to figure out what physical anomaly is causing my problems. I've stared at my toes until my eyes crossed & rolled back into my head. I came to the conclusion that 2 of my toes are crooked, thanks to an old injury that never healed right. They have a weird bend in the joints that looks similar to what rheumatoid arthritis does to joints; leaving them putting pressure on my pinkie toe in narrow shoes. Once I arrived at this realization, I had to laugh at myself for staring at my toes so much because that is some next level navel gazing LOL. All that toe-staring did help me understand what I need to be looking for in shoes from now on, so thank you for helping me look at the problem with a fresh perspective.

While I was staring at my toes, part of my brain was apparently marinating in "palewave" & gelato from my recent WIW post

https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....vel-gazing

Because I've become obsessed with the palewave & gelato color palette idea (that I'm naming "dippin dots" in honor of the ice cream, pics attached). It will mix & match with my historical preferences for warmer months (finds). I'm drawn to lighter colors when it's hot outside, probably because they just feel cooler than black & navy in the blazing Texas sun. I snagged up a few pieces from target after work last night (on mobile, so no finds yet but I'll add later if someone will link me to download for my laptop), and I had to stop myself from buying all the pastel & gelato clothes because I have enough clothes and I don't know if this obsession with new colors will be year-round (although if it is, that's okay too). I also know that dippin dots colors would not survive more than 32.6 seconds at work before getting torn or stained. I think part of my newfound love of simple, minimalist looks in brighter, paler colors stems from settling into the new house, as it is dark & a bit dystopian rustic industrial. Being surrounded by a look I love at home seems to have satisfied my need for darkness & random wear&tear LOL

I've been thinking of dying (part of) my hair purple, which would be playful & cool (in the sense of cool vs warm colors). It would also read more emo-gothic-street-ninja-punk rock-dystopia in winter, when I'm historically drawn to darker colors.

If you're still with me after all that navel gazing, wow! I love you XO

Now, my questions to you guys:
1) how purple should I go? I'm really only wanting to do the back of my head between the bottom hairline & halfway to the top, leaving me with my white hair in front. Should I go for "appalling color" or maybe a softer version like the dippin dots theme?
2) how best to accessorize a dippin dots themed wardrobe? I want the look to feel light and playful without reading too juvenile. My instincts are saying delicate chains and small-ish pendants, but beyond that I'm a bit lost. Earrings are out of the question, and it's too hot for scarves right now, so that leaves bracelets & rings. Should I go delicate &/or minimal, or big bold chunky?
3) where can I get some solid dippin dots colored shorts &/or capris/jeggings in natural fabrics or mostly natural blends? (I consider fabrics like rayon, tencel, viscose, modal, etc to be somewhere on the pseudo-synthetic end of the fiber spectrum as they actually seem to breathe well)

If you're still with me, thank you for taking time to gaze at my navel & toes, and thank you for any pointers & advice!
