The Cat, thank you. Yes, the other thread had lots of great styling ideas.

Colette, thank you. The jacket is not lined, and the knit fabric is very firm. It made it easy to work with.

Your poor puppies! Oh my goodness, I hope for a speedy recovery!

I missed the 'before' on your jacket but the after looks good to my eye. You are definitely a skilled seamstress. I didn't realize that a St. John knit could be altered. I have a somewhat vintage pant suit I inherited that I think could benefit from a minor alteration. I may pursue it now.

Cute dogs. Good to hear they are recovering.

Brooklyn, Jane, Gryffin, Suz, Kkards, thank you for your compliments and kind thoughts. I had no idea the jacket would turn out so well. In fact, it’s still just basted. I wanted Angie’s seal of approval before I made it permanent. The boys are feeling much better.

If you have a lot of trouble giving the pills, have you tried a pill syringe? Like this: https://www.amazon.com/Mikki-P.....B00076HUB4 I don't usually use one on my dog, but I did for a while with one pill that was especially difficult. You can pop the pill deep in the throat so that they can't bring to back out.

Angie, I was holding my breath! I’m glad you approve.

Rachy, Smittie, Mainelady, Emily, thank you!

Barbara, they are lucky they’re so cute - they get away with a lot of naughty behavior!

Tulle, I read what you and others wrote on the other thread, and acted cautiously. I’m a little surprised it looks as good as it does!

Joy, we’ve been using the kennel for over 10 years. This is the first time any of our dogs got sick. The kennel is temporarily closed, as are others in town. This dog flu took our area by storm. I’m not blaming anyone. They called me in South Texas to let me know what was going on, and picked up medicine at the vet. And the guy who’s there overnight I know loves them.

Donna, thank you. That’s a good idea, not hanging it. The fabric is actually very firm. I think that’s why St John is so expensive (I thrifted this piece, though). I didn’t say the dogs didn’t fight taking medicine, I don’t think. They just didn’t bite me! The Scottie was fine, but the Jack Russell is kind of wiley and would spit the pills out. He’s always been gentle though. You can tell when he wants to bite you, he just licks your hand. He’s one in a million.

Seeing the jacket fabric up close makes me understand why you fell in love. The fit looks great! I'm wondering if you need to do anything to the shoulders to keep them stabilized and prevent them from stretching and sagging. Or just not hang the jacket when you're not wearing it?

So sorry about your dogs! I hope they are perking up. Such a blessing that they are not fighting their meds.

This is the thrifted tweed jacket I previously thought fit perfectly. I really did. Angie said the fit through the shoulders was bad. I have removed the shoulder pads, and basted around the top of the shoulder and sleeve about 5/8 of an inch. I’ll sew this permanently if it passes muster. I have not styled this at all, as if you couldn’t tell.

What do you think of the shoulders now? I think they look good. Of course, I thought they looked good before. So I obviously I’m not a good judge of fit!

BTW: I am home with my quarantined dogs. We boarded them when we went to Texas, and they both caught dog flu. It’s so contagious that when my husband went to pick up some medicine from the vet, they met him in the parking lot. I have cancelled everything on my calendar. All of my friends have dogs, and I don’t want to them to get sick. So, I don’t have anything to do but nurse them back to health. I’m lucky they’re so nice. I’ve had to jam lots of pills down their throats. They could easily have bit me but they didn’t, because they are sweethearts.
