Fashiontern, I do have different boards for different fashion topics. Right now, I only have 2 fashion boards: one a "favorite styles" type and another more "information-related" (e.g. "how to wear ____," "how to build a capsule," etc.) I edit the "favorite styles" board pretty regularly, according to season, trends, or interest. You can hide boards. I forgot how to do that exactly, but I think it's under the Pinterest help section. I'd say the things that have made Pinterest most useful for me in the fashion department are having a couple of topic-related boards and regular reviewing/editing. Hope that helps!

Juniper, Paula, and Suz, how do you use Pinterest? Do you have different boards for different capsules? How do you control what's public & what isn't? Can you move things around so you see them next to each other in a way that makes sense? What other things have helped you make it a useful tool, rather than a huge bin of stuff you'll look at someday?

Hello!!! I really like Suz's suggestion of setting up a Pinterest board - as Paula mentions it'll help you pick out what you're drawn to.

This is a great forum to help you figure out your goals (Angie's latest post offers insight into her own process for doing that) and to experiment with new silhouettes.

Jenny, I'm relatively new to the Forum, and have recently undergone a "re-think" of my style, as well, due to changes in my appearance due to aging. (Think graying hair, softening of my coloring....). I echo Suz's idea of starting a Pinterest board with pins that "call" to you. And then, you might consider seeing if there are some particular "outfit formulas" that show up there. You've already defined one that you like: close-fitting top + full skirt. If you come up with 3 or 4 formulas you like, you could experiment with them and see what you think. That process has been reallly useful for me in defining what my style is for the time being. :)

Hi fashiontern, thanks for the input!! Yes, I generally now like a close-fitting top with a fuller skirt to give me the appearance of wider hips. I also definitely need a distinct waist (by tucking in, etc.) or I'm swimming in fabric. But tight overall doesn't work, because I'm too straight up and down. I love certain patterns but am very picky:)

What do you think of a flirty schoolgirl look? Flippy skirt, close-fitting top, topper could be cropped or swingy

Do you like bright colors and prints? I often think "loud" works better on straighter bodies. There are a lot of botanical and floral things out these days.

Hi, thanks for asking! No worries. My implants were removed, but no breast tissue, so I'm pretty flat-chested now (vs being bosomy before.) So, it's a big change with regards to dressing myself.

I hope this isn't rude to ask or hurtful, but without pictures I'm not sure I know what you mean. Am I understanding correctly that implants were removed but not breast tissue, so you have "something" on top, just aren't so buxom any more? Or did you have mastectomies before the implants?

Welcome back, Jenny! Though the reasons may be different, you are in a situation that is quite common to a lot of us--adapting our styles as our bodies change. You're in good company here. I bet we can help you find your new style direction, and even a uniform, if that's what you're after.

Hi and welcome back! I'm sure you'll gets lots of help from the forum with finding a style you feel happy in! My body has also changed during the years, and I feel I also get affected by where I live - living in London some years ago I had a much more fun wardrobe, but now back in my smallish hometown I'm not as brave anymore..! Also struggling sometimes to find outfits I feel comfortable in so more going with what is comfy and looks nice than a specific fun style... but have started to think about it so can make more conscious choices from now on!

Sorry for some rambling, just wanted to say welcome and wish you luck on this new journey!

Welcome and good luck with your endeavour!
As an aside I hadn't heard of garanimals so I looked them up. Per Wikipedia it's a clothing system that makes it easier for kids to pick coordinating clothes and thus builds self confidence. I have to say, my kids have never lacked confidence in their clothing choices - especially OTT, ALGO combos! Even matching socks are considered passé in the under 10 crowd these days.

Thanks, emily K, rachylou, fashiontern!! I really don't like boyish for myself, but the drapey is frequently too much material for me. I need to do more work on this, I think.

Hi, I used to be more active on the forum, but it's been so long I had to join again. This is kind of a weird post for me to write. I just got my breast implants taken out yesterday, and am trying to figure out how I will dress my newish body. I'm 54 and a rectangle. I always felt very boyish growing up, so I've tended wear skirts a lot and drapy feminine items. I had the implants for 28 years and became accustomed to minimize them.) I'm nervous about how to dress now, and since I had my daughter 12 years ago, started wearing a lot of Eileen Fisher because it's "easy" to wear and easy to launder. My shoulder are a sloping, so a lot of the EF just hangs on me. If I could wear Giranimals, I probably would. Anyway, I've rejoined, and am also starting up again in Imogen Lamport's 7 steps program. Thanks for reading.
