I love NYC! DH and I went a few years for a long weekend trip. I really want to take my kids now. I think they'd love the subway, the Natural History Museum, Central Park, and the Statue of Liberty.

L'Abeille, what a wonderful trip! We had a similar length trip to NYC last winter and also saw Phantom. Ha! Great taste!! Would love to see the city in spring, especially getting featured with a hip hop troupe-- that is super cool.

Only 4 days (3 nights) so sightseeing /activities were limited.

We stayed in a midtown hotel so walking distance to most things.

We coincided with the 9th Avenue Food Festival which ran for blocks and blocks, so we enjoyed a wonderful selection of ethnic food. Including Brazilian, my first real Feijoada, as delicious as I expected.

We did a long Sunday walk through Central Park. Highlights included: a group of folks sitting on a rocky outcrop, sight-singing Sacred Harp music, who let me join them; a band of hip-hop dancers (is that the right term? They don't call it breakdance any more, do they?) who drafted M. Abeille as one of their "volunteers"; and watching games of Slow-Pitch and chess.

It rained all Monday so we bought umbrellas off the street and took the subway. We did the Met. I especially wanted to see the African and Medieval art exhibits and the European paintings. Bonus visit to the gift shop for scarves, as recent posts reminded me to do.

We saw one show, Phantom of the Opera. The other highlight was our anniversary dinner, at a really lovely restaurant right under/beside the Brooklyn Bridge.

We also visited a few stores on Fifth Avenue. I will discuss them in my post on What I bought.
