Around New Years can be awfully cold, especially if you spend some time outdoors, when I used to commute to the city, I wore puffer for the whole winter season, even subway stations are freezing then (but trains are heated, of course). I've got a beautiful long wool camel coat, but I've been debating buying a puffer for awhile now. But, I've got so many other items to buy--all equally important--and my budget is not limitless. That said, I love the look of a short puffer coat and think it is much more versatile than a long wool coat.
