Mine is skirts. I love them. They love me. But it is too darn cold. With a high of -11F tomorrow before the windchill, I just can't get myself into skirts, even with tights and tall boots.

Great thread. Your approach is sound and sensible, Amy K. And remember that your style plans and goals are always flexible.

I will have to let go of my love for dresses and skirts a little. I can't get it to work in these cold temperatures - which hang around till June - with the right footwear. If I had tall DRESSY boots that fit, were comfy, and not black, I could do a little better. But these low heeled dressy boots for narrow calves are my HEWI. *sigh*. Oh well. Onto staying warm while heavy knitwear is trending. A window opens whenever a door opens, right?

Anything you've decided you probably won't get to, this year?

Me, I've resigned myself to just getting comfortable, casual essentials lined up. Turns out, evolving to *my* style of city wear is lower on my priority list for this year than non-fashion projects are.

After Christmas, I returned the Prada ankle boots (delicious leather, fabulous form!) and perfect Kut bootcuts, because I'm putting on hold the search for the trench coat I'd need toward completing that sleek-confident-quality capsule, whatever the adjectives were. I'd rather have lighter backpacking gear, and before I attempt a longer trail I want to feel confident that bf's home and cars are sufficiently stocked for local emergency.

I'm not giving up on finding my style; I'm just going back to the baby-steps approach I joined YLF with, and accepting that it's a slow process. I'll still troll eBay for the perfect single-breasted Burberry, and I'll slowly keep exploring the sewing thing.

It's going to take work to figure out how to make comfortable black chinos and plain Fryes look as OK as possible. I'm giving myself permission to try youthful styles like Converse sneakers and worn jeans. New specs will happen, and a CYDWOQ or similar belt. But probably nothing dramatic.
