Lyn, I wear skirts and trousers and the shoes really need to go with both.

Angie, thank you. I am going to visit the store tomorrow and see what I think.

The Cat, I do like the look of the snake print, but I am so scared of snakes I couldn't actually wear a snake print!

Sal, thank you. I think you are right, the black tights mean a black / darker shoe.

Suz, I think your comments have made me feel better about my current shoes, thank you!

Smittie, I think you are right about the studs. I love the leopard though.

Thistle, this is very observant and it is something that I have thought about.

It is a funny thing, but having received positive comments about my existing LKB heels, I kind of feel okay about them again.

I'm going to have try on in a couple of stores, including an LKB (thank you Inge). Unless I find an amazing pair that I am super happy with, I will pass and hold out.

Thank you as ever.

Hmmm, after seeing #1 existing, are you looking for a blockier heel? #1 is very refined, feminine, and traditional.

The other options seem like a large diversion from that style to me.

Is that what you're after? Are you bored with the look of a traditional pump, or are you bored with the black patent pumps specifically?

If the pump look itself still appeals, perhaps a pump with an ankle strap.

I don’t think of studs as your style, but maybe...The leopard is very eye catching.

Do you need the shoe for skirts/dresses or pants? (same shoes never work ideal for both in my case:-() but you are on the right track I think, I always love an ankle strap, block heel (for comfort) and a pattern for more personality will look great- so do try them all!

I love #3 through 6 and think they could be lovely. I agree with Sally -- if you wear solely dark hose then you pretty much have to stick to a dark shoe (at least in a formal environment). But could you wear sheer nude hose in spring/ summer? If the shoes are for this season it would be lovely to have lighter ones/ options.

Your elegant high heeled pumps are classic and wonderful.

Inge's Finds are also lovely but of course it all depends on the hosiery question and also what you want to wear the shoes with otherwise.

They are all nice!! If you wear solely black hosiery I would stick with black or at least dark shoes - I do think light shoes can work with dark hosiery but it is more of a trendy look than a corporate one.

You have your elegant pumps so you could play around with something more dramatic. I like 6 and 8 of your choices and also the suede LK Bennett loafers that look as though they would work well with a dress.

Inge's finds are also very chic. What a lovely collection! For spring and summer, I find the light slingback tempting. Jane, what about wearing hosiery in the same colour as the light shoes? The snake print pump is also elegant and actually quite versatile, as it could be used in all seasons and would look great whether you choose to wear nude or black hosiery.

so....i see #1 was the ultimate workshoe, goes with almost anything and is basic, but because of the patent leather, dressy. the rest of your picks, with the expection of #7, speak to something different.
so if you are looing for something that would be a versatile as your current shoe, i'd so for #7, or one of Inge picks. followed by #3, #6 from your 1st set or #3 from your second post....

I have similar concerns about ankles as you, although I don't need shoes like this very often. It seems to me that you really need to see them on your foot, styled with the skirt/dress and hose you will be wearing. And then you need to listen to your emotions. Thinner straps often work better than thicker ones but not always. I find it is VERY subjective.

I also am one who does no like lighter colored shoes with dark hose. Not sure why, I know some people like it, but it looks odd to my eye.

And, if you are considering something other than basic black make sure it will go with your wardrobe. It might be a great addition to help ease your boredom, and you still have the basic black ones too.

You see, if I could reconcile the tights issue, I could then buy a blush bag and have blush pink shoes. Which I would love! But then I don't carry my bag to meetings, so the benefit wouldn't be quite there.

Thank you The Cat, and Jenni, I have had another look at 3 and I actually think I do really like them.

The Cat, I do know what you mean about 8, but I have ordered some flats from the store and I thought it was worth giving these a go. I will post a pic when they arrive.

Thank you Inge. My existing are LKB and they have worn so well, so it is helpful to see what you think. The green courts are really beautiful but I am not sure about them with black tights. The kitten heels are lovely too, and the blush pink really super.

Is it right to be concerned about the black tights and lighter colour shoes I wonder?

On 6 Jenni and Sisi, that is the right word Jenni - too much rebel - a bit too harsh? mmm... thinking....

Ah Sisi, it is so disappointing when even a really good stalk doesn't seem to find a single pair of these shoes in the right size!

Dear Fabbers, I would be grateful for help with new work shoes. I work in a very formal environment, where I need to be relatively conservative about what I wear.

I wear flats when I leave the office or go to a meeting, and that works fine. I have a reasonable number of options on work flats. So it is effectively just walking around the office and going to meetings in the office, and I do use the lift. I walk a lot so I am fine with using the lift.

My current shoes, black patent heels are good, but after 3 years, I am bored with them completely. They still look like new. That said I can hold out until September if needed to get new ones. And of course, I can keep them as a spare.

I am short, 5ft 1' and my legs although toned, my ankles aren't especially skinny. I either wear black fishnet knee high socks or black 15 denier tights. I've tried other options, but this works best for me.

1 - existing
2 - I like these but there are none in my size
3 - an option from Russell and Bromley, but these don't quite give me the joy that 2 could
4 onwards - various options
4 - 6 seem a bit fussy to me and I only want to buy one pair really
7 - seem a bit unnecessarily formal and conservative

8 - I have ordered these to see what they are like; I think they may be a bit too chunky

I would really welcome any suggestions and thoughts that you may have.
