Oh, great ideas! I will see how it looks with dresses, and I can see that it would still work unbuttoned too. I'll try a white cami too, Angie.

Can't wait to try it out in a real outfit next week! Thank you all so much!

P.S. Jean, I am glad I waited until now to get the vest; I did try it on when it first came out, but the medium was much too small then. That's why I wasn't sure if it fit now. :)

Hee, sorry to keep confusing you with the "vest" thing, Angie! But waistcoat doesn't sound right to me.

(I *cannot* get used to calling a waistcoat a “vest”. A vest is an item of underwear!)

But I think this waistcoat is fabulous and you should absolutely keep it, Kristen. It looks best over the white shirt (which I think will look MUCH better with a white camisole). Try it over some of your other fitted tops too.

I definitely vote for the white blouse. The proportions feel right, and it is flattering. On trend, too. You could really make it funky, also, adding some long necklaces and/or a loosely tied men's tie.

Kristen, I have that vest and bought it full price!! I am soo jealous but I have worn it quite a bit. I think the white blouse outfit is the best although the others also work. I do think with blousy tops it works best unbuttoned. I find that it has enough structure to still define the waist that way. It fits you really well. It is a great look for you. I often wear mine with dresses.

I also loved the third outfit. I really like the look of a black vest over a white button-down.
All in all I think this was great buy. Do show us how this looks with the round-necked tees, please!

Thanks so much for the feedback and education about the corset fit -- since I am so busty and so used to clothes not fitting properly I assumed it wasn't right. Inge, I love the idea of a round-necked tee; I picked up a couple just recently that may work great with this. I don't have a button-down collection anymore -- just two white ones that were hand-me-downs -- but eventually that will get built up again too. Can't wait to try them with this!

You look hot! You are so svelte. I love the vest with the white button down and I would like to see a darker skirt or pants on the bottom.

Wow Kristen, I'm absolutely chuffed that you were inspired by me! Thank you!

I don't think the waistcoat is too tight, some are just more fitted than others, and this one looks great on you.
I love the third outfit, there's just something about the crisp white shirt + waistcoat combo that I find irresistible. I've tried mine with brightly coloured button-downs too, long-sleeved, rolled up sleeves etc. and it all works. You'll have lots of fun experimenting with it some more.

I would also try it with a SL ruffled shirt if you have that. The contrast of the feminine ruffles is beautiful too.

I think I prefer tops with a 'round' neckline for this look, or even V-necks. You could even add a lightweight scarf (loop it around your neck once and let the ends hang down) if you're after a nonchalant look.

try unbuttoning some or all of the buttons. I bought a vest at ATL a few weeks ago and have discovered that it works best unbuttoned on me (keeps a long line going down the center of me which my hourglass needs)

I like it both ways! You saucy wench. :-)

As for the corset effect, it takes some getting used to. I have two vests and one is super fitted while the other one is less so, and has a buckle so I can loosen/tighten it. The super fitted one is great at sucking in and smoothing over every last bump and bulge, although right now, with this recent weight gain, I'm afraid it's strictly for occasions when I won't be eating or sitting too much. :-q

Lovely vest! It gives you a great figure! I want one myself!

I would try it with black denin jeans and a white feminine blouse ..

I think the medium looks great. And you rock the Inge inspired look! I love that outfit. The waistcoat type vests do have a corset like feel to them but don't you love how sexy they make you feel? While looking perfectly polished and professional to boot. I think the vest works best with the ATL top and the white b-down. The MK top not so much because of the volume. Maybe you could try wearing the vest unbuttoned with the MK top?

ATL had their vests on sale for $9.99 so I had to pick one up! I got in medium -- I was swimming in the large but I worry that the medium is too tight. It almost looks like corset on me! (But that could also be because it really, REALLY shows off the difference between my bust and my waist.)

I'm not quite sure what to wear with it, so I tried it with 3 tops. Your thoughts?

With a square-neck ATL cotton top. This was the original outfit I had in mind when I bought it -- the skirt too!
http://www.flickr.com/photos/k.....treplace=1

With my red Michael Kors blousy knit top. This is the one that really looks corset-like to me, I think because the top neckline and vest reminds me of a beer wench at a Renaissance Fair. *g*
http://www.flickr.com/photos/k.....treplace=1

This one is a hat-tip to Inge and her challenge outfit. I think I like this one the best, but I still don't know. Does it work?
http://www.flickr.com/photos/k.....otostream/

Here it is closer, and brighter:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/k.....otostream/

Part of me thinks it's on trend, and the other part of me thinks I look like a lost member of a wedding band.

Clearly, I need help!
