These look great, and so versatile for your style! I like them styled both ways. I'm sorry to hear about Covid in NZ. These are strange, difficult times!

I love these Sal, they look so fresh, especially with the white sneaks! I think booties will look great and like Angie's note about a higher shaft so it's a clean line. Definitely tucked or semi-tucked to showcase the belt!

Sending love to you and NZ xx

Oh, I checked it again on another monitor & it does indeed look more brown than yellow now - different screens can change our perceptions too!

As for tucking, have you also considered a half tuck? Just a little tuck at the front, then pulling the sides straight down to create a 'curved' shape (rather than a straight tuck) might feel more comfortable to you? (Again just spitballing, as a fellow hourglass pear)

HK was also doing well but not so much anymore (we had single digit cases in January but now... well, I can't keep up anymore, lol...) They're introducing mandatory testing for *all* of HK at the end of this month, so we're now going through *another* round of people buying up *all* the groceries & toilet paper... Ughh. My commiserations!

Thanks Suz, I wore them again yesterday with the blouse below. It is fun to experiment with a different silhouhette.

Stylefan - yes the colours are right up your alley!! I am definitely tending to warm colours now whereas I used to get away with cooler ones as well.

Thanks about the commiseration. NZ has a very high vaccination rate and was prepared, but there will be some very sad situations, and there is some awful behaviour by some groups. No more to be said!!

Great pants, Sal! I can see these pants working with so much in your wardrobe. The colour looks fabulous on you. Both the tucked and untucked versions work, but I slightly prefer the tucked version. Great colour combination.

Ooh, nice pants! They have a lovely drape. I like both versions, untucked being a bit more casual. I like them with sneakers. I think you can certainly wear them with the right ankle boot. Do they work with your pale blue jacket, too?

I'm sorry about what is going on in NZ now. It's awful -- we are just now coming out of it (at least for now) up here and things are beginning to open up a bit (for the time being). I hope you stay well. The good news is that your population is highly vaxxed so the illness should not in most cases be as severe.

Thanks Zaeobi - yes I am a pear/hourglass with my thighs being the widest but with square shoulders. The brown is a mid brown - and the top is a terracotta/burnt orange. And funny how our eye can adjust!

Thank you Aurore, Star, Blue Jay and Suntiger!

Brooklyn - I am going to experiment with a couple of belts (I am looking out for some new ones actually) and different tops too. And boots once it cools down a bit..

Bijou - thanks. Yes WA and NZ have taken similar approaches to Omicron... the surge is on here and there is some strain in medical, testing and supply chain. Wishing WA all the best.

Robin - I can relate as I never used to tuck...

Jenni - thanks. There is plenty of room in the crotch but I can see how it looks that way. If anything there is a little too much room in the rise which might be leading to those horizontal lines. I will check on the next wear.

Thanks Rachy!

Sally - pleased you avoided it...my son in the South Island has it now. He's been feverish and sick, but not at a worrying level thankfully.

Thanks Angie - I don't have a white bag, I agree it would be fresher than the brown. And thanks for the healing thoughts.

Jaime - tucked for the win!!

Firecracker - it's amazing how the eye can change. I have to be cautious and wouldn't tuck this if they were high contrast. Sure you could carry it off though.

Joy - its a mid brown - not cool but not warm. It is a relatively easy colour for me to mix in. If I wear a black top I would wear a black belt I think.

SlimCat - I am a big orange fan - whether burnt orange/rust or coral - one of my favourite colours.

Sally, I hate to be the first one to mention it…but aren’t they pulling at the crotch quite a lot in both pics? I know several Fabbers have decided they will just live with that in pants but wanted to check you were OK with it. I thought perhaps it is a fit issue? Other than that they suit you really well both ways, tucked and untucked.

Sal, I love the pants on you. Lace up cognac boots are going to be fab. I had a wonderful pair years ago and they went with everything. Last year I was able to find another pair and they too are workhorses.

As for Covid - We have opened up too and are in for a tough few months and winter….. The only positive thing from this pandemic is that we realise how much of a global community we are and how we need to look out for everyone.

These are lovely Sally. I prefer tucked. I’d experiment with different tops. I think they’d look great with a wrap top or sleeveless top. Something with a little more drape/fluidity. Also, you could try leaving off the belt or substituting the belt for a leather belt. I think they will work well with tall ankle boots. But the sneaks are good too. Modern.

Interesting colour - the pants are sort of a yellowish brownish khaki green? They work well on you though, & with the reddish top (in my mind *that's* clay, but it's probably more ' terracotta ' or 'brick red' instead...)

You have a similar body shape to me (pear-hourglass) & so I can understand your qualms about tucking in - but it doesn't look too short on you at all! From personal experience, it just takes a little getting used to seeing yourself that way - I never used to tuck in my tops (especially not fully) but now you can't stop me lol

NZ has been late to the Covid surge but we are amidst it right now. I don't want to dwell on the state of the world but it is oppressive.

I always keep an eye on NZ Label Tuesday label - they are more known for dresses and my pink and white shirt dress, an older spotted shift dress and my two piece black floral are all their designs. The last couple of seasons the pieces haven't appealed to me as much- but the recent drop did and I have purchased these clay coloured trousers. They are a suiting fabric - not wool - but will be warm enough for 95% of winter days here.

My first wear today - trying to decide whether to tuck or not. They are quite high waisted and I am quite short in the torso - but my eye has adjusted a bit. I think untucked is more flattering but tucked is more trendy? They feel like a bit of a stretch - I haven't worn trousers with pleats for a while. They do feel a bit similar to some trousers I wore about 1990.....( or a little bit Elaine from Seinfeld).

I will do an outfit lab with them - wondering how they will look with ankle boots? I quickly tried them with a couple of options before taking off the tags. The finds below are some things I think could work with them. I also will experiment a bit with the length.

I plan for them to be a work piece - I was considering a work midi dress for winter but in reality trousers and jeans are easier for me in the rainy wet winters we have - in my line of work in an engineering facility.

This year I have added two pieces - the fawn knit linen top and these trousers. I am still considering cognac lace up boots, a new sweater and some sort of coat but haven't purchased them yet.

Thanks in advance and footwear advice is most welcome.
