I always avoided them because they seemed too much on me — something about bold + my high contrast coloring plus the fact that I have large-ish features on a small face… But these days I’m liking them. Perhaps because I’m losing some of that definition and contrast in my appearance. My head is small so many frames don’t fit me correctly. Plus there is something about the bridge of my nose that causes glasses without notepads to sit too low and rest on my cheeks. I see the ophthalmologist, get my prescription and order online. Two suggestions:<br /> Zennis has been really great for me. And Framesdirect which carries Takumi brand that has clip on sunglasses made for some of their frames. Progressive lenses take a little getting used to, but my prescription is not terribly strong, and I don’t need correction for closeup/reading (yet!), so my lenses are not as pricey as some. </p> <p>I need styles that have nose pads or accommodate adding nose pads, and some brands just don’t work for me. Last time I checked Warby Parker they didn’t work, but maybe they’ve added more options since. However, the wire frames are not doing it for me anymore, so 3 and 4 are definite no’s. Fun to try on different styles. It’s hard to see the colors in these pics but most of them have blue in them. So many frames are just too large on my small face!</p> <p>If I go for the wooden frames, I would probably choose a blue or teal, or maybe a cool wood tone grey. It’s expensive to do so because I require prescription lenses (and progressive ones at that), but good shades are very important to me both from a functional and fashion standpoint. I wear them a LOT and I rely on them as part of my style. I tried on some at my favorite eyewear source and ordered these fab bold frames in pics 1-2 from a company called Portrait. I love that they are neutral but make a statement. </p> <p>I am also considering some new regular eyeglass frames. I like the shape of the frames in pic 3 even though the yellow is not right for me. They are wood and made by a company called February 31. Pics 4-10 show some of their color options and styles. Really good looking! They are custom and take a while to make, and expensive, so I’d need to consider carefully, but fun to have them on my radar. </p>
