Yes to suits that don’t make us look like bankers! I was just on a panel this week with a lady in a very similar cut black suit. She looked trim and sleek, esp with her black turtleneck and heels to finish the outfit.

I LOVE your top and think the suit looks good. My only question on the pants is how they are fitting at the bottom. Do you need a little tailoring there? Not sure if it’s a PPL question or maybe they are tapering too early? Just worth a look.

YEY, happy that it passed Angie’s approval.
shevia, thank you
lyn67 and Bijou - I am glad that I am not the only one who feels like this. Traditional suits are not me, it has to have something like peplum on the jacket, non traditional pants, interesting details, or non neutral color.
Bijou - this suit is stunning, I don’t remember if you modeled it for us?
Fashintern - hm, no, my spring summer things were too big actually, but maybe I haven’t specified it, I usually just say that something just doesn’t fit because weight is such a sensitive issue and I didn’t want to sound like bragging:) I lost almost 15kg since beginning of the year when I introduced some lifestyle changes as part of my new year resolution. I didn’t want to invest a lot in my spring summer wardrobe because I wasn’t sure if I will be able to keep the weight off, but now I almost have nothing to wear - my whole fall winter wardrobe is about 2 sizes too big.

I like the updated look of fitted but not skinny or tight pants in a suit, hope you enjoy wearing this one, and the pieces separately too.

Last winter’s suit is 2 sizes too big? Weren’t a lot of your spring/summer things too small? Sounds like there is a seasonal component to your weight shifts—gaining in winter, losing in summer, such that fall & spring are the only times you weight is stable, maybe.

Anchie - I have really struggled with trousers feeling too masculine myself too - so this post definitely set off a light bulb for me too.

I love the look and fit of your suit. Given you work in IT - a less traditional suit works perfectly - so I say this is a definite keeper. You look amazing in it. The blouse is wonderful, I really love the white stripe down the arm.

I recently purchased a navy pant suit for when I need to be seriously dressed. My suit has fluid pants, but with a split at the front (same as my black pants) and a cropped jacket with a bell sleeve - both in Finds. These slight details make it feel feminine and fab to me. How you feel is everything! If you feel confident and fab, it projects and people notice that far more than what you actually were wearing.

I've learned so much from this post, thanx for posting!

Angie is soooo right ref the pants, and pardon my ignorance (I may be old fashioned) but I even questioned these are a complete suit or rather separates-seeing the fit of the trousers.
BUT I can sooo relate with you, Anchie! I've been feeling myself the exact way in a regular (classic fit) pants suit in the past, so I've during the years I've totally skipped them.
Now, and pardon my ignorance again- this is the very first time I see IRL an alternative, little more feminine fit on a female body as a suit.
This now widens out my fashion sight a lot-and think with all of our day's casualisation there is a place for this fit in some of ours' lives, events and crowds. The bulb went out-and I may give a try to this silhouette myself, too.

Angie - new pants are not Ponte skinnies and neither is blazer. They are thick cotton with satiny feel. Maybe this is all misunderstanding because of difficulty photographing dark pants. I tried taking more pictures.

Soooo interesting!

Though it’s hard to judge from the pics because dark colours are hard to photograph - personally, I prefer the look and fit of the BR Ryan pants in these pics - although I think I want to pull them up a bit.

That said, I FULLY support how you feel in something. It’s much more important than how I think it looks! So, go with the Ponte skinnies. There should be no more hesitation

Another love for the suit as you model it. I quite like the the slimmer pants and wish I could wear them like you do. I am the exact opposite - I only feel comfortable in more trouser-like styles. The fit is fab and the blouse is TDF. You are right to hold out for perfect, but I think this is.

I don’t have to decide now, have at least 2 weeks to return. Will try it on one more time tomorrow and will also keep looking for different suit.
I am really conflicted. I always had at least few classic fluid dress pants like BR Ryan in my wardrobe and never felt good in them - either frumpy or masculine. But they are kind of essential for the work wardrobe.

Anchie, I should have embellished my thoughts. You don’t need to go wide in the pants. I’m thinking fluid cigarette pants made of a wool blend. Like my own pant suit from Scotch & Soda. They are very tailored and slim - but not skinny. They don’t cling on the legs.

You have the majority vote to get this suit! Go for it. Your work environment looks wonderfully diverse and casual. The suit will fit in.

The jacket is lovely and trim and with the skinny pants looks very young and modern dressed up. And you've got the body for skinnies! I concur with Angie that wider legs--not neccesarily wide, just not skinny--is more traditionally dressy, so what matters is what you need the suit for and who your audience is. I saw fellows in suits in the picture, but not so many women. We tend to have more latitude than men because we have so many more options. But I see younger-than-me women rocking skinny suits with both flats and heels, and to my eye, they look dressed for doing business.

You really have great taste in clothes!

Angie - I will check if the Drykorn has the pants in the same color and fabric but in different cut. There is no point of keeping the blazer if I can’t make a suit. Do you have maybe a recommendation for a different suit?

That's so funny! I wish the Hampshire pants were a hair longer, so I actually like your new ones better. I'd vote keep, but you'll know what works for you, Anchie!

Anchie, I've said my bit. My perceptions are the same. YOU are wearing the suit though, and I am always on the wearer's side. Listen to your feelings.
