Great stuff!! Have you tried tucking the blue blouse in? I know that's not quite how it's supposed to be worn, but it'll give you a preview of it without the bottom ruffle. I really like the black dress and the blue drawstring blouse is a pretty color!

Thanks girls - I'm SOOO in love with the black dress - it was there last time I went but I'd already bought 3 dresses so didn't bother trying it on... SO glad it was still there. I'm really keen to try it with different colour combo's - I have some gorgeous turquoise bangles and earrings that I think will also look really good against it.

LOP I'm glad you like those shoes!!

Here are some more pics with the other two tops over different bottoms...

http://s294.photobucket.com/al.....Purchases/

Now, those grey trousers are the ONLY trousers I own besides jeans, so they aren't really a good colour but its all I had to try on with trousers LOL Actually, looking at the pics of those trousers I know why I don't have too many - they all just cling to my larger thighs :(

Thinking I'm going to be best to chop the plain blue blouse and re-hem it... in pic #1 I was thinking perhaps around the bottom of the door handle would be a better length? But not sure...

Oh and I realised in addition to only having that one pair of trousers, I don't actually own anything other than that red skirt that doesn't have belt loops... I always wear belts to hold my bottoms up, but really should just get the waistbands altered...

Great new stuff!
The black dress is lovely! You have an amazing figure and I prefer it without the belt, this dress is more casual and I would prefer to see it without the belt and with nude gladiators.
Also loved the blouse with the stripes

I love those red booties! Now that I got this out of my system, I can comment on the rest. LOL!

The black dress is a great versatile piece. I think your point of matchy matchy is right. Maybe one accessory too many.

I'm not sure if I've seen a picture of you in pants before, but the solid blue top would be better with walking shorts or pants. The white+blue stripes call for white pants or shorts IMHO.

The red bag is also great with all shades of red. You inspire me to go thrifting!

Oh, the dress is fantastic, I love it. I agree with Queenie about the drawstring top looking better with trousers. The stripes are great.

great finds Theresa! Love the black dress too! I"m kindof thinking that the blue drawstring blouse might be best with pants instead of a skirt.

The black dress is great! When I first saw it I thought "that would look AMAZING with a colored belt!"... and then a couple pictures later you totally read my mind! The red is perfect, especially since it seems to be one of your power colors! I would recommend seeing if you can find any cheap colored waist belts on future thrifting outings, because you can make SO many different looks with this dress just by changing an accessory or two. Exciting!

It's hard for me to say much about the tops because without your full body in the picture they seem to emphasize your hips in a way I don't think they would if we could see your legs. Does that make sense?

I agree that the blue top looks better ending at the natural waist, but having the belt there too makes it look too cluttered, though I know many would say that if we can see the belt loops you should wear a belt, so I'm not sure what I would do. Do you have a basic skirt that doesn't have belt loops that you could wear it with?

I had such great success at my local thrift store last time that I decided to go back again today sans kiddies!! (And seeing as as I have just paid all my bills, thrifting is all I could afford LOL)

So, here are today's new purchases - I went in specifically looking for dresses and blue tops.

http://s294.photobucket.com/al.....Purchases/

(You've seen everything past the new red bag).

I LOVE my new black dress! Its cotton, but lined, so prob not fantastic for our super hot days, but still much cooler than anything too fitting - I think the loose sack style gives lots of air flow. And of course, I adore black and red so instantly threw on my red accessories with it LOL Those red booties are my favourite shoes of all time.

The blue top with the drawstring I'm not quite sure where to wear it - I think it looks better at natural waist in the pics, but would really appreciate your comments - I just worry that the ruffle under the drawstring will add too much bulk to my hips. But I do like the colour and its a lovely soft cotton so very cool. I also figured I could just chop the ruffle off and hem it at an appropriate length if that was the best option.

And, the other stripey top I really liked - made me feel all nautical - I was worried it would be too much for my hips, but I think it looks ok.

I would really love some ideas on what to wear with the two tops - do you think my dark straight denim skirt I have on in the pics is ok? If so I'm assuming they'll also work with jeans... Anything else?

Thanks
