We can definitely look for jeans. J. Crew has a dark bootcut that's nice, but I'm not sure how stretchy they are. Macy's is there, and Neiman Marcus too (not sure what they have in the way of denim). Oh, Diesel is there, too (duh). We'll check them all out if you want. :)

I like the white jeans all put together with the outfit. I like the dark ones, too. I can't really tell the difference in size between the blue denim and the white pair.

Not to beat a subject to death, but here are more photos of the jeans with a top and shoes, as well as a dark denim pair of the same jeans. Do these look okay?
http://letitrainagain.blogspot.....shoes.html
Excellent suggestion, Angie. If Ana and Patience are up to it, I will bring two pair of shoes and ask their advice on jeans.

A suggestion Sarah. Ana and Patience are able to see these jeans first hand tomorrow. If everyone is up to it, why don’t you ask A&P to help you find jeans? Try straight legs and boot cuts and stay away from wide legs. Bring heels and flats. What say you lasses? Care to help Sarah out?

Dani, you hit it on the head. Since my size is changing about every 2 to 3 months, I feel like it's wasteful to purchase designer items. I am learning to not be a brand name person, but rather a perfect fit person. I like the rise of the long and lean jeans, but they are way too long. The back feels like it goes up too far, but it could be that I'm just not used to a higher fit.
The Levis are more stretchy than my JCrew white Matchstick cropped pants. So I have a feeling they'll stretch.
I love the look of the CK jeans, but they were really snug in the crotch area, and it felt awkward. I already had to go up two sizes so they'd fit!
Thank you for your input on the white top. I'll give that a try!
I'm shopping with Ana and Patience tomorrow, so I know I will be in good hands.

Sarah,

I would take a pass on the two you purchased unless the Levis stretch enough in the waistband. I like the CK ones but since you said they're uncomfortable return them...there's nothing worse than uncomfortable jeans.

I have to be careful when I purchase jeans as the rise is VERY important. I found most of the rises out there right now give me muffin top. Have you tried any of the GAP midrise selections (long and lean, which you have, classic, and essential)? I don't know how anyone else will feel about this advice, but this is what I did. I went to the GAP and picked up a couple of jeans that fit nicely but were a lot less than the designer jeans that I'm saving up for. That way, I had a couple pairs that I could buy immediately and not feel like there wasn't anything in my closet.

As far as the older ones, I'll reserve comments for when you post pictures of them turned up the PPL. Hope that helped

San, I have a wrap top that I could wear for the sake of the photo. I don't have flat shoes that go with it.
I'm pretty much starting from scratch with my wardrobe due to weight loss, and I'm looking for anything now that will work. If none of the jeans look right, it won't be a loss to pass them on. If they do, then I can find tops and shoes to go with them.
So are the Dojos a no go with everybody?
Is this white top a 'good fitting woven' Angie?
http://letitrainagain.blogspot.....louse.html
I suppose I should find a belt or cardi to go over it?

Sarbear, do you have a wrap top or something similar in shape? If you did as Nicole suggested with the pinning and pressing, then tried the right shoes and top, and posted a picture, we could really see the sillhouette.

Higher rises really help with that little extra around the mid riff area, sarbear. You seem to be doing a super job with tops! You want them to float away and not cling, but still look tailored. Good fitting wovens are usually a more forgiving choice.

Good idea, Nicole. I'll try to do this tonight or tomorrow. I think what's hard is that I still don't understand what jean shape is right for my body shape. I am an hourglass/pear but I do have extra flab in the tummy area that makes things complicated.

Sarah, Try pinning the jeans so they are PPL, with shoes and as nice a top as you can find in your closet. Then take photos. I think the fact that the pants are all so long is complicating the process for you.

Thanks for your responses!
The white Levis are VERY stretchy, and I imagine if I wore them around the house they would stretch even more.
The CK dark jeans are NOT stretchy at ALL, and while I like the wash and cut, they are not very comfortable. I'll probably return these.
The Chip and Peppers have a very wide flare leg. I like the wash, but they *are* flare and I don't think that's ideal for me, right?
Angie, I think my problem is that I don't like any of the silhouettes. Perhaps if I had entire outfits it would help. I have a very hard time with tops and never seem to find any that work.
Any jean that is worth keeping I will hem. I have no jeans currently to wear with flats - I do only have one pair of flats, but that will change shortly.
The Gap jeans were an impulse buy, and I've only worn them with taller shoes.
The AGs I've had for a loooong time, and they've turned into my sporting event jeans more or less.
I love the fit of the 7FAMs, but from the knee down I'm not sure they work.

I’m worried about Levis stretching out. Ana makes a good suggestion about wearing them for a while around the house first.
You might try to go up a size and have the back altered if it’s a dash too loose.

Which leg silhouette do you prefer?

The waistband on the white ones does look a bit snug, but it's possible if you went up a size it could stretch out and then you'd be left with super baggy jeans (this has happened to me on numerous occasions). What I would do is put them on some day when you think you'll just be home for at least a few hours of the day, watching TV or on the internet or whatever, and wear your jeans with the tags still on. This will give you a good idea if they are going to stretch to a point that is comfortable and fits you well (ideally, you want zero muffin top), but not stretch out and become baggy. Does this make sense?

I'd like to see more of the Chip and Peppers on you, from the front, etc. I think the Gap long and leans look okay, but will you get them hemmed, you think?

I think the rises look uncomfortably low...but that could just be because you're holding the shirt up to show the fit. I agree with Shell that the white ones look a little too snug.

levis vintage straight: not my favorite. they look a little tight in the thigh area and the rise looks kinda low. id like to see how you plan on wearing them - shirt, shoes, etc. it might change my opinion of them. how do you feel in them?

ck dark denim: i like these. are you planning on hemming them or wearing them with heels? they look just a tad long. great rise though and i love the pocket detail :)

pre ylf jeans: i think hemming them would make a big difference. overall, they all seem pretty good, fitwise. the AG club jeans and the dojo jeans both look like flares, which is a little dated. the chip and pepper jeans look nice from that angle if you think you'll fit into them someday, they might be worth keeping. again, they'd need hemming, but overall, i like these the most.

I purchase two pair of jeans today, and I was wondering if I could get some opinions.
First pair are Levi's Vintage Straight white jeans, and the second are a dark denim Calvin Klein. They are labeled "lean bootcut" and they seem almost straight to me. I measured the hem and it came out to 15.5.
Thanks!
