I like the shape of this piece. If you can't find or want a buttondown shirt, you could layer it with a light weight turtleneck or add a scarf to give it different looks.

I like this sweater better than the peplum in your other post. On an enabling note - being a six month piece will help the CPW.....

Thank you Lyn D. Angie, and Suz.

Angie, I should aspire to being your twin in any of many ways! You have been so successful in wearing high collars and neckline structure with great style and flattering results. I have had some "top" epiphanies and I have had to admit I'm not as focused on mitigating my long neck for some reason. It is rather inexplicable, though I may try to sort it out. I am totally sirened into round flat necklines or boatnecks despite having a long neck and dainty shoulders. Also I have the daily topper at work so that adds some structure that is not evident from WIW photos. But it is more than that.

Here is a hint of aha--I do not like plain buttondowns on me for whatever reason, something to do with the line of buttons and the torso especially tucked in which does not look right to my eye for me, or doesn't stay right. But I like them more layered under a sweater (which is harder to do than you might think in the "capsule wardrobe" because I find I need a different fit in a layering vs. non-layering sweater. )

It's a really nice sweater and I like it on you a lot. I agree with Angie's suggestion for layering.

As for the Loft sweater, I certainly hear you on that. I have a t-shirt from them that developed holes before it was even washed! I don't know if I can take it back; they probably won't accept it. Urgh.

Nice pullover! Fab with the BF jeans. You could also layer a shirt under this and let the tails hang out.

(I'm waving at my loooooooong neck twin)

This looks good!
You could also style with a belt and semi-tuck for added interest when desired.
A shame about the Loft sweater pulling at the front.

Here is the VC chunky/”shirttail” sweater in the XS. Shown with BF’s and a side view, to show the high-low hem. Looks funny in photo but better IRL due to movement of the drapey knit, I think.

I like it because it’s easy and comfortable with several pairs of work pants, all blue jeans, some pencil skirts, and is a cotton-linen blend, can layer under, and so is good for 6+ months of the year. However, since it may read as more trendy than classic, and it’s pricey for me, and it’s a knit, it would be a stretch to say the CPW will be excellent. Hmmm.

FWIW, I have returned the tweedy peplum sweater as it also did not seem to fit as a wardrobe classic and it isn’t as wearable with as many things, particularly trousers. The peplum waist also was just a bit off for me, too high. Also, unexpectedly, I returned the Loft gray boxy sweater. I wore it one day and at the end of the day there was a big pulled yarn in the front middle. Not sure if was starting already, but with the very loose weave, I determined this was a quality issue and would continue to worry about it, and opted not to get a replacement. .

Have had some further aha moments in trying to see how to build better wardrobe essentials and may try to share those later. As usual, reviewing several Angie posts helped drum some more sense into me.
