Whenever I'm stuck in a wardrobe rut, it's because I'm lacking the right shoes. I'm super picky about shoes and reject far more than I keep. I finally found a pair of black boots that make me happy (I'm at long last jumping on the Blundstone bandwagon) -- I ordered 6 different pairs of boots this week, tried them all on, and kept a grand total of one, but it's sooo much better than none! I'm finally coming back around to black footwear after years of colourful footwear, and it seems to be the shift I needed. Payless had both of those things, and a store-wide buy one get one half off sale. Both pairs are solid black (my preferred shoe color because my hair is such a dark brown that most people perceive it as black), have super comfy soles, are easy to walk in, and are great for transitioning to cooler weather. I have walked quite a bit in both pairs, and they're great.</p> <p>My other cool weather shoes include two pairs of boots--a heavy pair of combat boots, and a lightweight pair of lace-up boots, both black. I'm hoping to acquire a gray pair of boots this season and a pair of gray jeans because I'm working on gray as another neutral for fall/winter, and maybe a black pair of loafers, but those are lower priority. Other than that, I'm officially set on cool weather shoes and ready to enjoy the variety of looks I can create with what I have. </p>
