I like all three - I slightly prefered the sweater dress either unbelted or with the black belt, but that is because I prefer a bigger belt, not because of the colour, which looked good

Love the sweater dress on you, with a belt or without. It is super! You could also try layering a long sleeved T underneath for a different look. Or wear with tights.

The booties are fab, too!

I am more mixed about the shirtdress, mainly due to practicality. But if you think it will fit well into your life, then it looks cute.

Those are amazing deals; you are a savvy shopper!

Love the sweater dress on you N.B.
Prefer the red belt or no belt best.
I quite like the shirt dress, and would like to see it un-belted as in the promotional pic.
If you don't like ironing I would give it further thought re. practicality?

The shirtdress reads more 'tunic' than dress to me --- maybe the curved hem?

But the sweater dress is just fabulous on you. Definitely nothing 'old' about it. What a lovely collar too. Looks good belted, though I love it without. The colour certainly doesn't need to come from the belt, though --- tights, bag, even hair accessories can do the trick.

Love the sweater dress, and it look great belted as well! Also really like the booties. I'm not sold on the shirtdress, though...I think you can do better. It just seems....odd. Especially how the button-placket ends. I think it would be more charming if it buttoned all the way up the front. It look a little smock-like.

Thanks for all the replies! Based on the replies, I think I'll be keeping the sweater dress and the booties and I'm still thinking about the shirt dress.

Gaylene, it is 100% cotton, although I'm not sure if it will ever get less wrinkly.

Jules, I do live in Canada (Toronto actually). I chuckled at the "man shirt" description and I can definitely see how that could be interpreted. While it's not like I will be doing anything besides go to class in it, I'm not sure if that's the look I want.

RunnerRae, I got mine from Mark's. I've also had success with booties at Walmart and actually found the quality to be okay. Don't know if this helps - sorry!

I've tried adding a belt to the sweater dress with my tiny collection of belts. (I really need a bright coloured wide belt) What do you think?
1. Pink skinny belt
2. Wide black belt w/ lace bow

Those are all great deals especially if you're in Canada (I'm not sure if you are... Doesn't matter).
Love the grey dress and booties, you can add colour to the dress with great textured wool tights, or maybe arm warmers/fingerless gloves? Which you can even make out of socks or tights!
I love shirt dresses but unlike Gaylene this is giving me more of a "slept over at a man's house and borrowed his shirt" vibe. More cheeky or even sexy, less classic or formal (can't imagine wearing to my office, but you're young, the rules are different). So for me it needs something substantial underneath, and I'm not sure what.

Definite YES to both the sweater dress and the booties. And to look like you do in that sweater dress would be near to impossible for an older woman; that sweater dress REQUIRES youth to make it look fun and exciting.

To my eye, the shirt dress actually seems to be a more mature look on you. I'd keep it only if you think you wouldn't be struggling with the stiffness of the fabric. If the fabric is 100% cotton, that stiffness might disappear after the dress has been laundered a couple of times. If the fabric is a poly-cotton blend, though, it might always be a bit crinkly.

I love the sweater dress on you! My favorite by far. Add a purse or belt for a pop of color.

I like the shirtdress, but how much will the wrinkles bother you? Will you get good wear out of it. Wrinkles drive me bonkers, and I avoid all fabrics that wrinkle. It makes it really hard for me to wear 100% cotton even though my skin loves it!

I like all of these. I do not find the gray dress old - I think it looks wonderful and fresh. The boots are fab and if they are comfy and fit your budget it is a huge bonus. I love the shirtdress on you . I can see you wearing that in all seasons. Great haul!

My online purchases arrived on Friday and I'm excited to try them on. I have scholarship $ leftover from last semester so I thought I’d treat myself (even though some of these are still pricey by my standards, heh). I would sincerely appreciate any honest opinions regarding K/R or how to style them. Thanks!

1,2. Grey sweaterdress $36 (reg $79)
I bought this to try on as it was on clearance and I liked how the cable knit does not dominate the entire dress. Here I've worn the collar 2 different ways. It's made from comfy cotton and is pretty soft. However, I am not so sure about the colour because I don’t want to look too somber on grey winter days. I generally prefer a pop of colour somewhere. Do you think I can pull this off? Is it a little too old for my age (20)?

3,4. Brown suede booties $46 (reg $99)
I first saw these on my sister and loved them but my cheapo self waited until I nabbed them for half price. I tried playing around with the colours with Photoshop I don't think my picture does it justice. It's a rich woody brown. The heel is around 1.5in and is extremely comfortable. Given how it’s super hard to find shoes that are comfortable and don’t look like my granny’s shoes, I am keeping these!

5. Blue shirtdress $21 (reg $69)
This dress is completely curveless like a pillowcase but looks much better with a belt. Here's the URL of the model showing the super boxy fit:
http://www.gapcanada.ca/browse.....=289758003
I'm not so sure about this dress even though I love shirts and shirtdresses in general. It's a substantial cotton material and wrinkles very easily (maybe that's the style? It's a fault that my other, much more expensive shirtdress has as well). Not sure how long I can keep the crinkles under control. Any thoughts?

Now, over to you
