So the Limited trousers, shoes, Nine West bag and Max Studio top are good?
Maybe I should try the other top with a cardigan and take a photo. I'll also take another photo of the vest with a different top. I feel like it's too big. It fits looser than I'd want a blazer to.
I can't return the jeans or the velvet pants, but I can consign them or give them away.
I think you hit it, Patience. I'm really having a hard time finding clothes. I still don't have enough to wear day to day, and end up wearing some outfits multiple times each week (and often, the same pair of jeans for four days a week). Because my body is still changing, I can't justify spending a lot on designer clothing, so in a way I feel like I *have* to settle right now. I feel like I can't find any tops, and pants are also a challenge. I think this whole process of a physical change and a style change happening all at once is quite overwhelming.
Ana, I don't think you've seen the DVF on me in person. We didn't try on dresses at all, if I remember correctly. Since I had posted photos of them prior to the closet clean out. I have other dresses that fit me better, and this one has to be adjusted just so to look right, and I fidgit with it all day long. *Something* just isn't right. It doesn't even compare to the JCrew roll neck dress at all.

Patience gives some good advice. I've actually focused completely on buying accessories, and am not planning on buying any winter clothing at all, as I feel that I can make do with what I have. But I know you don't have that much that actually fits you, so I understand being frustrated. I just got a pair of jeans from Bluefly today that I was really excited about, but they are not going to work, so back they go. Oh well.

Re: what Patience said about the Juicy Couture top--you might need to get it shortened slightly--I'd have to see it in person to know for sure, or a front facing photo. I think Pretty Pears tend to look better in slightly shorter tops, so they don't hit you at your widest point. But, I think the volume on top is a nice balance to the bottom half.

Sarah, I'm going to start with my favorites:
shoes - 10 -- killer!
NW bag - 9 -- I have a similar one; I love that it's grey
Jcrew suit - 9
limited pants - 9

I agree with everyone about the velvet pants. I'm also not a big fan of the Juicy Couture top. It's very pretty but I'm wondering how practical it is for you even with a cardigan. Maybe I'm completely wrong on this but I think it's not the right style for a pretty pear. I personally do not like the crease in the jeans.

I'm on the fence about the blouse and vest. I feel like I can't see it well enough, especially the blouse. I really like the outfit you put together with it all, but I'm wondering if the vest is too big. The Chanel purse is nice but it's not really my style so I'll refrain from giving a rating till I see it in an ensemble.

I think the DVF dress is an 8. To me it's not the shape but the pattern that could maybe be more flattering. I'd do better if I saw it in person I think. I wish I could see everything in person in fact. Sarah, there are so many things I have seen you rock, that you should not just settle. If you're having a hard time finding things you love give it a rest. There will always be more things to buy.

I'm terrible at the CRS thing, I'm sorry. BUT, I do want to comment on your stuff (and find out where you got it--I'm there!).

I agree with the others about the velvet pants, I'd take those back. Pants are hard for me to find, too--especially at thrift stores because if you do find a pair that are the right everything, they may not have your size, etc. I wouldn't feel bad about not being able to find many pants.

Onto the other stuff, which all looks great to me.

First, I'm seriously swooning over that "Chanel" purse! The tassel and chain strap are really funky details. I wish my "Chanel" purse had a little more edge to it. You better hide it if I come over because it might be gone when I leave (hee hee, just kidding). I really like how you've paired it with the cream J. crew jacket (nice cream suit, by the way--good find!). Is that a loop print scarf or part of the blouse you're wearing underneath the jacket? I like that detail as well. I'm going to buy a scarf next allowance--I've found the perfect one (I've been looking for a while) and I'm really excited.

Also, the vest outfit with the Max Studio blouse is possibly my second favorite thing I've ever seen you in, after the polka dot skirt (that's my favorite), and tied with the silk J. Crew dress with the roll neck. A close third after that is the JC navy argyle cardigan with your matchsticks and bright red ballet flats. I'm not sure if this would be too costumey, but I'd love to see what the vest outfit looked like accessorized with a funky retro hat (if you wear hats--I think you could because you have a great face shape).

The Juicy Couture top is really pretty and feminine, and perfect for your body shape I think. It would look nice underneath a cardigan, too. And I personally like the DVF wrap dress on you. Have I seen that on you in person? I was thinking about it, and I was wondering if maybe what you don't like about it is the small print? Sometimes a closely spaced, allover print can make me feel bigger than I really am, and I thought maybe it's doing the same to you. And I love the trench on you, which I have seen in person several times--I hope you keep it. It's perfect trench weather right now!

I am also thinking the brown velvet pants were a mistake. I searched seven stores in total and found the one pair from Marshalls, and these velvet ones from the thrift store. Pants are so hard to find, I guess.
As are tops, so I was really happy with the two I found at Marshalls.
I like the DVF dress, but I guess I'm not really thrilled with what it does for my hips. Maybe it's just mental?
I didn't plan on wearing the suit together, so I appreciate your thoughts on how to wear the skirt, aj. I bought the suit for the jacket, but figured if I could wear the skirt, it would be a plus.

Love: Limited pants, Juicy couture top, dot blouse, shoes and handbags, cream suit. Glad you had a good day the second time around!

I think that you could wear the cream skirt with red, brown, black, dark green -- think of it as a skirt and not part of a suit (sometimes I get stuck thinking of just the suit and not the piece individually so I don't see the skirt as it's own piece), maybe that will help figure out what you already have that will go with it.

Sarah, thank you for posting. I love your looks. I think you found some really great stuff. In particular, I love the spectators and the nine west bag. I also really like most of the other stuff you got. The only thing I'm not partial to are the velvet pants. I don't like what they're doing at the crotch. Great finds!

It all looks great on you! What wonderful finds! (Btw, if there is a resale shop in your area that benefits Hospice, be sure to check it out. Ours has wonderful upscale things)
I love the finished outfits you've put together, especially the vest outfit (10!). If you want to give that JCrew suit jacket a different look, you could change the buttons (maybe black?). It looks like it would work with dresses and your pencil skirts as well as graphic tees and jeans. The skirt could be paired with your denim jacket, a ruffle blouse or graphic tee or turtleneck, and boots.
I like the wrap dress on you but would like to see a little pop of color, maybe a bracelet. Love it put together with the trench and purple bag. In fact your trench is making me rethink trenches of that length. You are inspiring!
Please show us ways you wear graphic tees. I found a couple I'm playing with and need to adjust my eye. One really isn't a knit, but a crinkly shiny woven fabric with colorful tee-like graphics on the front.

For not finding anything one day, you sure scored the next day - well done!! I'll also leave the CRSing to the experts, but have a few comments here and there....

Love the Limited trousers you have on in the first few shots. I think their shape is a lot more flattering than the jeans or velvet pants down lower. Maybe its just me, but I think velvet pants either have to be 100% perfect or they just look wrong - not a very forgiving fabric in my mind!

Love your spectator shoes as well! And I think the cream jacket is a wonderful fit for you. The skirt looks great too, from that photo it doesn't look too small to me! As for what to pair them with, I have no idea sorry!!

I think you could be right about the wrap dress, but its hard to tell from that photo. I think it looks better with a jacket on over the top - that's the only thing that makes me query something about the dress.

Hope that helps -sorry if not!!!

Hi Sara....OK I really like *almost* everything.

The only two items I'm not keen on are the velvet pants and the vest. The vest has a biker chick kind of thing going on. The velvet pants are not flattering.

The 7FAMK jeans are iffy. I like the fit, but that crease is distracting to me.

I LOVE the 9 West Bag, the Juicy Couture Blouse and Max Studio blouse.

And the suit is incredible. That is my favorite in the lot.

The vest outfit is terrific too. Amazing how something as simple as a vest can really pull an outfit together. My favorite outfit is the cream jacket, jeans and scarf--LOVE it. So glad you posted pictures--it's so inspiring!

I've been having a time of it lately finding clothing that a) looks good on me and b) I like. It seems like I hit clothing plateaus just like I hit weight loss plateaus, etc.
I decided to go thrifting and TJMaxxing the other day, and I found NOTHING. I was so disappointed.
So the next day I went to several more thrift shops and Marshalls and found a few things. I posted a LOT of photos, so thank you for your patience. Please use CRS.
http://letitrainagain.blogspot.....-post.html
----
Photo 1: Limited trousers, Juicy Couture top
* My idea with this is to wear a cardigan over the top for work, or wear it with jeans for a night out (with or without cardigan).
Photo 2: Back detail of JC blouse.
Photo 3: Limited trousers, Max Studio dot blouse, David A. vest
* I love the pants. I *like* the top and can see it with a wide belt when worn without the vest. I'm not sure on the vest, though. Is it too big? How snug should a vest fit?
Photo 4: Sleeve detail of Max Studio blouse
Photo 5: With Nine West crinkle patent bag
* Is this too large?
Photo 6: Tahari spectators
Photo 7. Close up of the Nine West bag
(everything above is from Marshalls)
Photo 8: JCrew cream skirt/jacket suit
* I bought this suit from the thrift shop because of the jacket. I love the fit. I can see it worn with graphic tees and jeans, or something more work appropriate - I just don't know what. What do you wear a cream jacket with? Shiny, any advice? I would never wear this suit together, personally. I like the skirt, but it's a tad small I think. When I do wear it, what would I wear *with* it?
Photo 9: JCrew jacket with 7FAM "A pocket" jeans.
*Again these are probably a tad small, but I they should fit soon or I could give them to somebody. I couldn't beat a new pair for $7.99.
Photo 10: Added a silk scarf
*How do you wear these?
and a "Chanel" bag
*I have no idea how to tell if it is real or not, but I figured for $4.99 it would be worth trying it out.
Photo 11: Close up of Chanel bag
Photo 12: Limited trousers (chocolate velvet with gold pinstripe)
*These are one of the only thrift purchases I wasn't 100% about when I got them. I was desperate to find dress pants and these are the only pair with texture that I found in four stores. Yay or nay? If yay, how would I wear them?
Photo 13: alternate view of Limited trousers

------
Photo 14: This is what I wore today. I love this dress on a hangar, but I don't really believe it flatters my slight pear shape at all. Thoughts?
Photo 15: Dress paired with Express trench and crinkle patent Nine West bag. I'm also having second thoughts about this trench.
