You look stunning --- I can see why you love this dress! None of us are symmetrical, and I'm sure that cups can be added into the dress easily. You might ask your seamstress if a tiny shortening of the strap might help, too -- or the slightest bit of taking in around the underarm area. I can't tell from these photos, but I know when these areas fit perfectly, it helps a lower neckline work optimally, and might help "even out" the sides.

Love the shoes, too!

Kiwigal, mwah! Thank you! I do feel all those things in it!

Diana, aw thank you Good points about analysis systems! The tips stylists have given are usually helpful. It's when I start experimenting with personal style analysis that things seem to go one way or the other very quickly.

crutcher, thank you for the Rita love I usually do well listening to the small voice. But lately I've had moments where I get stuck up in my head. Than it's not so fun, or so nice. Thanks for good free advice xo

unfrumped, I think that's true of everything! Some things ya gotta tweak and make work for oneself!

abc, definitely going to sew in cups.

E, mmm that's true. They do help hone the intuition. Psychologically comfy and physically flattering sometimes seems a fine line. But I'm learning it's not that thin a line :)

Banoffi, thank you!! And what a fun username you have! :D

Shevia, oh thank you J!! xoxoxo It's good to be back!

I think there's value in reading about systems like those, and trying out their ideas, to 'hone' your gut, so to speak. But ultimately you have to feel psychologically comfy in your clothes, which only you can sort out!

Oh that is another thing. It's great to recognize things that are so nearly right and require only a minor fix, because so many items would never work without a tweak here or there, and I find that very limiting.

I think the big thing that is missing with things like Kibbe and color me beautiful and all those analysis systems is that they discount what I think is the MOST important factor - personality and personal taste. (Which is of course NOT quantifiable and is all down to intuition.) That's why they've never appealed much to me. Yes, they can tell you what to avoid and what may objectively be the most flattering outfit, but they can't tell you what you like and don't like.

Kathleen, she managed cups in my wedding dress, so I think she will be able to make it happen again.

smittie, thank you!

Sara, The shoes made me think of you and all your pretty shoes. :)

Jenn, that's a very good point. It took me a while to realize it I think. But then this dress came along and snapped me out of it!

viva, I'm 5'10 inches, so most dresses hit me mid-thigh. But this dress, while not full midi length, still hits couple inches below my knee. As for midi lengths, I love them, they're so beautiful and womanly.

Dee, thank you! Yes, Kibbe got me too analytical and I was losing all the joy I usually experience when wearing and buying clothes. Paralysis by analysis I guess!

E, I completely agree with your theory. A friend said the same thing to me when I showed her the dress. She said having less bust would keep it from looking overtly sexy. Not sure why I stop following my gut. Probably because I start listening to my head again, and that starts the analyzing process. I usually know what works or doesn't work for me to some extent. But somehow I, like all other women on a variety of subjects, sometimes find myself looking for the magic program that will change my closet into perfection. I think it's the perfection myth that keeps us from enjoying so much of life, including our own style and clothing.

Word Lily, thank you! And yes, yay for intuition! :)

Rachy, xo and thank you

Diane, lovely seeing you too!!! Thank you I haven't worn red lipstick in a long time. So it's nice to have some on again. It's also a new one, Laura Mercier lipgloss in Poppy. Le sigh :)

Gorgeous! I have this theory that women with a wider set bustline (I am this way too) can wear lower/more open necklines without it looking excessive. I think your soft romantic girl, combining bohemian and sophistication, sounds just right for you & describes a lot of the outfits you've posted on the forum. So it sounds like you don't need to analyse anymore, you can just follow your gut.

I've never done the Kibbe (or any other type of) analysis, but if it's becoming more problematic than helpful than just picking pieces you love, taking a step back from it sounds like a good idea. If you knew what you like and what works, enjoy it!

So, Ruche had this special sale going on. This dress stole my heart, and was 25% off! It's incredibly low cut, which does't bother me in the least for going out. I would wear a camisole under it for church though.

I feel this dress is immensely flattering on me as far as lines, cut, and proportions. The bodice needs some help from my tailor. My bust is unfortunately lopsided, with one side being smaller than the other. You can see it in this dress. I hope there is something that can be done to fix it. Since I can't wear a bra with this dress, perhaps sewing in some cups would make it work.

Best of all, this dress makes me feel like ME! I had to give up on Kibbe for the time being. I was overanalyzing the dickens out of every piece of clothing I looked at because I wasn't sure if it met my Kibbe type. Most exhausting and I couldn't enjoy clothes because I was worried how I looked. I know that sounds dumb. But I certainly feel better for it. I am discovering more and more that perhaps I am not the over the top sexy glamour girl, but more the soft romantic girl with a touch of bohemian and sophistication. I feel at home in this dress, beyond words at home. I would sleep in it, and that is always my test for clothes. Not in terms maybe of textile comfort, though that is part of it. But do I feel so at home and relaxed in this outfit that I could take a nap or fall asleep in it? Well, I do.

Pardon the wrinkles. Just arrived and I haven't pressed it yet.

I wore my gold lamé and rhinestone ankle-cuff high heels. These were my wedding shoes and I think they add a lot of zing to this outfit! As do the red lips, which this dress seemed to call for the very second I unpacked it.

Add your feedback please!!! xoxo and have missed you all! So good to be back at YLF :)
