I'd wear all of them except #10, and that might just be a function of the photo. I'm sensitive to movement in patterns. But I like the idea of black and white with the red pants. I'd add a scarf or necklace to #4 to bring a little color up to your face.

I like #1 dress and #3 outfit. I think a column of color works well with your shape.

Agreeing with BrieN. #11 is my favorite of the bunch.

Sorry to muddle the waters but I'm going to give an opposite opinion on #11. I like that the white jacket is longer than the shirt.

I like both #10 and #11 on you!

I think that what makes the black/white shirt and red pants look so good is that they're crisp colors, and that the tan sweater just dilutes that look. To me, it doesn't look classic, it looks drab and tones down the whole outfit. I feel pretty strongly about that, lol. I might not have a lot of fashion elements down pat, but I think I'm the cardigan queen. In #11, I think the whole look would be much more flattering and youthful if the shirt was showing below the jacket instead of the jacket being the longest item on the top.

thirkellgirl...great idea about putting darker slacks with they grey sweater..that's the way I wear it in cooler months. Yes it absolutely is a journey, and on that I'm really loving!

cjh..so many good suggestions! the white jacket would sharpen up that yellow to for sure...I do wear a darker long sleeved T under that grey sweater in cooler months it shows off those "holes" very nicely. I'm in New England where spring is finally here so no more of that type of layering for me for a while Maybe that sweater is really more suited to those cooler months. Caramel with the blue...love that one too and I have a couple of bags in that color. Loving the vintagesphere blog outfits! Is that your blog?

funny how the two of you have pretty much opposite opinions on the sweater in # 6 ...vive la difference!

You look terrific in all the blue outfits. The red and black not so much, but still very good. Adding jackets is a great idea.

Love all these combos, especially #6. The cream/tan sweater really adds to the red, white, black - just a touch of non-traditional which ups the classic color into more modern - one of those juxtapositions I happen to like. And I feel the added layer gives another point of interest.

The yellow top is nice - not too sloppy. It's a bit more faded/casual/soft than your other choices, perhaps. Can you add the white jeans jacket to sharpen that up a bit?

The sweater in #7-8 is nice but perhaps that could be brightened up by pushing up the sleeves or layering a rose or cherry red shirt collar underneath? I've forgotten what season you are in right now (Northern or Southern Hemisphere?)

The blue top with jeans - that's a perfect fit. Just try some accessories like a dark caramel bag or a necklace with a bit of white and caramel to pick up your shoe color. http://www.caramelandco.com.au.....d-necklace or brighten with yellow (lower left) http://vintagesphere.blogspot......chive.html
Or it would be great with white pants.

I really like your shirt in #5. I don't like it with that color sweater in #6, though. I think that with a darker sweater it would look much more modern. If the pants were black or even dark denim you could get away with a color other than black, but I don't know what you do with the red jeans. Someone else may have suggestions?

I like the jacket length in #2, and think that really works well to balance your figure. I have started wearing longer shirts (they seemed perfectly fine to me until I started realizing that in photos they appear to bisect my hippy body) and those are working much better for me. With my denim jacket (which looks about as long as yours) a longer shirt makes it all come together.

It's a journey, isn't it?

I decided my next step would be to shop my closet. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I’ve had some of this persona in my wardrobe for a while. As always love to hear your comments/suggestions.

#1+2 I wore this dress to two outdoor weddings last year. I think the skirt shape is a little wide to be flattering. Wore it by itself once and added the jacket the other time.

#3 Blue/Grey top w/ ankle pants. I don't think of ankle pants as a good choice for me, but I'm liking these. Don't' like them folded. I'm beginning to think I have a secondary shape that is not a pear.

#4 Same pants, thrifted light gold top. Love this color on me but the fit is a little sloppy maybe.

#5 Red jeans, black/white paisley top. This was a surprise. I don't think of red as a spring color and this top is fairly old but I think it works pretty well.

#6 same with a cardigan (pulls back to classic style)

#7 - 9 Grey gnarled sweater w/skinny jeans. This is probably my favorite sweater. Skinny jeans are tough for me but I'm liking these, but not rolled.

#10 Black/white top with red jeans. the top is a bit too tight but like the idea of the geometric pattern. I bit of sleeve is probably more flattering on me than sleeveless. Should think about lighter tops to go with these for spring summer.

#11 add white denim jacket.

#12 Blue top...really like this top but not with these pants. Maybe white pants
