That birthday did it for me, too!
I think you're very wise to have a plan - look at the major things first. Maybe build a small capsule wardrobe.

YLF has been such a helpful place for me, both reading others' threads, and posting my own. I recently asked for suggestions for a new hairstyle, and am *so* glad I did. I love my new haircut and friends and acquaintances have complimented me, too.

You must be very busy with your kids, so it's good to take a little time to look after yourself as well.

Hi Shaz. I know exactly what you mean about painting one single room and the whole house seeming shabby afterward.

I am always for self improvement. I have a one project going forward at all times in my life. What I personally have learned is to identify a path forward, list my steps, and prioritize. I also give myself time to accomplish each step before moving on the next. This last portion is the most important. Sometimes I have only one project in a given year (but I really focus on that project).

The plan you outlined: face shape, hair, glasses is a great.

I may be one of the few people on the Forum that is in the "full length" camp with you. I abhor cropped pants. My eye has FINALLY adjusted to ankle length. Unlike you, I caved. When I couldn't find full length, I bought ankle length. Your inseam is LONG. I was impressed.

I joined a few years ago meaning to start then but then maternity clothes happened This time I'm taking my ease with it not rushing to the shops but starting with the pieces I need first such as a winter coat and will slowly add in other pieces I need along the way once I have the basics sorted I can work on the wants

I know what you mean!
Started a kind of makeover a few years ago. Maybe a " refresher"!
It's also work to try or add a new twist as you go along. I don't want to stop doing that, but I'm learning not to bite off too much or too many style changes or it gets in the way of enjoying what's working.

So I hit forty and recently had two lovely little ones but found myself lost as to what I am meant to wear for my age, shape etc. The first part was trying to work out what body shape I am and as of yesterday I've settled on inverted triangle. The trouble is once you start working on parts of yourself at least for me I find I need to work or other parts also a little like when you decorate your home, you paint one room and suddenly the whole house needs doing.so today's task was face shape so I can do something with my there hair Next I'll proberly work on glasses. I've given up on make up for now as my skin has become so dry and flakey make up just ages me especially around the eye area. A lot of it is waiting around tops are the easy part jeans and pants are so hard to find here in the styles I'm looking for as I need 34-35 inseam for flats and 36 inseam for heals but the stores are hanging on to the skinny style and no other styles in sight for now. I may also need to work on colors but for now I'm happy enough sticking to my usual colors. I'm not bothered by trends and don't keep up with them I already know this years crops are not for me as I don't like any of my leg on show so I won't be wearing them although maybe wit my inseam problem they would be ideal as I could just buy regular pants for once but no my legs have not seem the light of day in nearly 30 years and I'm all the happier for it.
