I'm pretty excited about breaking them out. We had return of the polar vortex (southern version) &nbsp;last night so I wore ankle boots, but maybe this is the last of it.</p> <p>Not sure if&nbsp; it is just my magpie gene, or if patent leather is a subliminally intentional way of making flats look a bit more "pollshed" (in lieu of pointy-toes sometimes, for example), but a remarkable percentage of my shoes are&nbsp; &nbsp;patent or partly-patent. It's getting to be kind of funny. I think the style name is Gaston but will have to check the box. I had about sworn off of DSW because YLF is " ahead" of DSW. This spring they finally have things like pointy toed flats, for example-- none during the winter.<br /> These go in a slightly different direction so it is like finding the window when the door is closed--they will work for several capsules, so I will focus on those-- it will be as much as I can wear in reality, anyway, in a given season. I tried on the Delman flats. You, RL loafers, are not the Delman flats.</p> <p>But you're prettty great anyway!</p> <p>The Delman nude oilslick slipper flats had to go back due to comfort and fit issues. I've tried some other things as a sub but nothing "nude" has turned up yet. </p> <p>I came across these Lauren 2-tone "penny" &nbsp;loafers and I'm quite keen on them for some specific purposes: 1) a flat to wear with black skirts/nude hose that does not look so dark and frumpy as all black; 2) a flat to wear with this tweed skirt ( or similar as may turn up now that I have shoes that would work!) as an alternative to my nude AGL ballet flats, which I will still wear 3) a flat for black pants in summer that adds a summery vibe for lighter or brighter tops.</p> <p>I'm still confounded by all the variations in loafer styles as to what's current and what's too retro, so I'm using my own compass --I like a real but low stacked heel, a not-too high vamp else my feet look like boats, and more rounded than square toe--and to all that it has to be comfortable on fussy feet. </p> <p>Also, this is part of wearing skirts my way--no pumps (at work, that is). I'm not in a corporate environment and am surrounded by people wearing seriously comfortable shoes for long days with lots of walking/standing, so it's important that shoes neither be, nor look, &nbsp;unrealistic for work&nbsp;. </p> <p>Another thing I love about these is the ivory color--not optic white--as that's better for the colors I wear. That is why I did not jump on some of the&nbsp;fun black &amp; white flats out this spring.</p> <p>1-black skirt; 2-3 -AT &nbsp;cream/tan/black tweed skirt 4-slim black pants-- or would wear similar dark gray or&nbsp;straight black&nbsp;pants that are hemmed for a flat shoe. </p> <p>What do you think? </p>
