Sleek black boots have been my HEWI for a couple years now.  It really isn't easy to find the right ones.   I agree with you, these have to go back.  Too slouchy.  I think it is that the leather is just too soft and doesn't have the structure it needs to give you a sleek look.  Like Caro, I've found that mine really need a full zipper to fit properly.  I'm fine with the look of real riding boots on others, but I like my ankle fitted because I want a tailored look.  If you want a fitted ankle, a zip is essential.   I was in love with a pair of Tsubo boots that I had to return for the same reason. I loved them when I first tried them on, but after they warmed up for just a few minutes, they slouched and slumped.   We'll be looking for our HEWIs together.   rae on "New Knee High Boots... I think the ladies have you sorted on why. Usually I've found that for a sleek ankle you need a boot to zip all the way up; the pull on styles leave room for your heel to swivel into the boot so there is always too much room in the ankle for a sleek look.  Caro in Oz on "New Knee High Boots... I was so frustrated when I tired them on.  They are pull on, but they have a small side zip and an small elastic panel at the back.  Clearly not enought to 'stucture' the boot.  I have never really had much trouble with boots.  I have slim legs with my calves and ankles being on the average side.  Oh well. I also think they are too tall. Knee boots should actually hit you a couple of inches below your knee, and these come right up to your knee joint. In my case it's caused by a combo of narrow ankles and wide calves. Nobody makes boots for 15" calves and 7.5" ankles! My feet are also very low volume so there's often bagginess in the foot as well. Lace ups work well. And my Blondo boots that I bought this winter are surprisingly sleek. Don't know if you can get Blondo down under though. Jules on "New Knee High Boots... Since I was looking all last fall/winter I will diagnose these for you according to *my* criteria and maybe that will help you figure out what you are looking for... they are too loose in the ankle, but I found it was pretty much impossible to get sleek ankles in a pull-on boot, you need a zipper; the heel could be a bit higher, while still being relatively low and practical (trust me when i say I cannot wear "real' heels, but my perfect pair has about 1.5 inches of solid heel); and they are indeed a bit too high, something that narrows with your calf and stops just at the top of the calf curve rather than right under the knee is more flattering. Again I think this fitted-to-the-calf shape requires a zipper. I could not find what I was looking for and compromised in the end. Such a simple thing that turned out to be really hard! It looks like it starts mid-calf and are quite slouchy all the way down to the ankle.  I think the looseness all the way down is causing the issue.  You can sometimes get away with a little looseness around the ankle (hard to avoid in this type of boot, I find) but this is almost all around looseness.  Sadly, I don't think they are fab enough for you.  Keep trying and good luck! rabbit on "New Knee High Boots... They looked so lovely and sleek :( What is the problem? Are they too long or just too big in the ankle? I am correct in thinking this is just too much slouch at the ankle.
