Thank you very much ladies!

Sarah, you are right, those are Joe's jeans I have mentioned previously . You should try them on, I think they would look great on you. They come in white too, but I think you already got white jeans.

Maya, Shiny wrote about her skinnies on her most recent weekly outfit thread, although I do not recall if she addressed that.

$60 would be for hemming for three pairs of skinnies, not one ( my tailor charges $20 for original hem) :)

GG, the competition was pretty bad ( again), but we did dance significantly better than the last time ( although obviously not nowhere near good enough).

Wow, those ARE skinny. Shiny, I still wear skinnies with boots and under long tunics (at least mid-thigh). Are they true to size? They look SOOOO skinny it kind of scares me.

$60 for hemming?! That's a lot but I guess since you obviously have a tailor you trust it's not so bad. I sometimes ironed the hem so it looked a bit crisper.

Maya, Tanya gave you the link - see my "shiny's week" thread for my review. I just measured the back rise and they are indeed 15 inches. You'll see what they do to my back view because this is too long for me (though works fine with a belt and with a long top). I think you would absolutely love these jeans, and you sure can't beat the price. However, I thought you had given up on skinnies? Even if you did, I think they are worth a try on. I think they work great as long as I have boots to balance them out on bottom. Not sure I will like them as much with flats, but we shall see!

Tanya, it sounds like you can simply cuff them for boots, so I vote to not get them hemmed at all and just scrunch - no need to turn them over. Scrunch is the look - so go for it and save your $!

Thank you for reminding me that the folding question has come up previously. It is indeed difficult to tell the difference with this leg opening, so I fill just fold them to the length I need at that moment and save $60 for hemming.

Shiny, which UO jeans are you talking about? They sound like they would be perfect for me. I like a good 9.5-10 inch rise in the front, but in the back I need 14-15 inches.

I believe I asked the same question about folding the leg up, and Angie and Ana and possibly others said it was fine. Some people might prefer the look of a crisp, finished hem, but honestly, it's really hard to tell the difference when the leg opening is that narrow.

Thank you ladies.

Eva, I have to get the pinstriped pair tailored, it gapes in the back at the waist. The grey ones are the same model but a size smaller so they do not need it. I had to go with a bigger size for the pinstriped pair beacuse the material was a bit stiffer and not so comfortable. Joe's jeans tend to fit curvy bodies really well so no tailoring required for the trouser jeans.

Shiny, thanks for the advice! I can not wash the black coated ones at all, they are dry clean only, probably beacuse of the treatment. I will wash the others, but not put them in the dryer, I do not like what it does to the denim. I would like to wear all the skinnies with both boots and shoes. I tried them cuffed with boots, and it actually works, probably beacuse my legs are quite skinny at the ankles so there is always extra space in the boots there. I really like the thought of not having to hem them at all. I do have to hem the denim trousers, I wore them with my normal (3") wedges on Friday and the hem dragged a bit on the ground and got dirty. It makes sense since I have my 4" wedges in the photos but do not wear those that often.

I'm having trouble viewing the individual photos (it's not your photos - it's my computer; I need to reboot), but I could view the album. You look great in all of them!!

As for your question about the hems, I would definetly wash them first. I always pop them in the dryer TWICE - on theory that it is probable at some point my teens or my DH will accidentally toss them in the dryer thinking they are being helpful. Then after that I line dry only (unless I'm in an emergency situation with nothing to wear).

Then once you have rid them of any possible shrinkage, I would keep them exactly as is. I think skinnies are meant to have a lot of scrunch. My earnest sewn's I did get hemmed, but I only had a few inches taken off. They are really long but I like a LOT of scrunch at the bottom. I think they look better that way.

The only issue is tucking into jeans when you have that much scrunch! So I had to duplicate and the second pair is at a short length that I would never wear without boots.

However if you can cuff the jeans, and then tuck into boots, that may work. This works with my new OU skinnies but not with the ES skinnies, which have thicker denim and if I cuff them they are too thick to get boots over them.

So this is a long-winded way to say, if you can't cuff and tuck, that you may have to decide - are they skinnies for boots only? Or skinnies for flats and pumps? If the latter, don't hem them at all - keep them long and scrunchy.

Regarding rise - my COH Huttons are my ideal rise - exactly 9 inches. They come up just under my belly button. The new UO skinnies are 10 inches; they just cover my belly button. However for me back rise is JUST as important. For example the DKNY SOHO's have a 10 inch rise too but the back rise is too long so I get baggy butt syndrome. And these UO's - haven't measured the back rise but I suspect they are longer in the back than in the front. No matter what the jean, I need a back rise that is same length, or nearly the same, as front rise. This is not all that easy to find.

Tanya, excellent job! I love the trousers and 7FAMK best. I haven't got my head around pinstripe jeans yet. They really reamind me of jeans I had in the late 80's. But they look great on you. I am curious, do you need to have any of them tailored? You once mentioned that you get all your pants tailored, but these look good. Are they made for curvy bods like yours?

OK just checking. My mother has been looking for a pair of 10.5 or higher rise jeans. I just ordered myself some goodies from Macy's and I found a pair of their house brand jeans with a 10.75 inch rise--so I bought them for her. Hopefully they'll work. She is so cute...80 freaking years old and still wants jeans that keep her locked and loaded!

There's no real rule on what is mid-rise, but most places will consider 8 " to be that ( COH Ambers that many people here have and love are like that too). Actually my favorite jeans have a 9" rise too and don't come up to my belly button, so I don't think it's unusual at all. I would have honestly preferred if these jeans were 9" too, but since all of my other requirements were met and they weren't super low I decided to go for them.

Nicole, my almost 10" rise R&S jeans and Gold Sign jeans hit me right at, or a little below, my belly button. I have absolutely no explanation as to why I have such a high rise despite being petite and short-waisted, but it is what it is. I do know, however, that I can at least rule out having babies.

For jeans to hit at my natural waist, they would need to have an 11" rise. No kidding.

Ah, I'm tempted...but 8" is a bit low for me. I like a good solid 9" rise. Is 8" considered mid rise? My favorite fitting jeans have a 9 " rise and they don't come up to my bellybutton. Is that unusual? I guess the fact that I've had babies and have a baby belly might be coming into play here.

Thank you all so very much!

Nicole, you are hilarious as usual. The rise on the trouser jeans is a tiny bit over 8". These are them (where I got them):

http://www.famousstyle.com/sho.....uctId=1897

But you can see them better here ( on the 'more views' button):

http://www.revolveclothing.com.....ce=thefind

The coated ones are a little stiff, but not too much, beacuse the coating is only on the outside. They are cotton (with a bit of stretch), not denim. Sadly, they are dry clean only, but I will survive

I never have the problem of having to take things in at the waist (bottoms anyway). If things fit in the waist they are sometimes too loose in the hips. I'm more of an appley hourglass than a pearish hourglass (I used to be the opposite).

For a skinny jeans, I will probably not be able to wear a 26 (but I would still try it because I love those jeans). Bootcut or trouser jeans might work a bit better though. I guess it doesn't matter since I can't find them anywhere anyway

Tanya and new jeans...huh, who'da thunk? ;)

I love love love the trouser jeans. How high is that rise?

The pinstripes are my second favorite.

How do the coated jeans feel? Are they stiff like oilcloth?

Wow, Tanya, you seem to have the premium jean jackpot! Every single one of them looks absolutely perfect on you. I agree with Maya - I think your body was made for skinnies and it's definitely not for everyone (I didn't get a pair this season and I am really starting to believe that they are just not meant to be for my body shape). I have never been able to get away with just folding jeans instead of getting them hemmed although I don't know if it might work better with skinnies rather than other types. I usually have to fold them in at least twice to get them to stay for a little bit.

Thanks Maya! I truly appreciate your compliment about the real skinnies, I was really nervous about that. I think losing an inch from my hips since starting to dance again gave me the confidence to do so.

Yep, the rise is on the low side, it's 7.5" - my absolute minimum that I will only do if the material is very soft, which these are. I actually brought the sizing up not for this particular pair, but the R&S brand in general - if that high waisted pair you like shows in 26 it would mist likely fit you, that's what I wanted to say. But we are opposite there, I take 27 beacuse of my hips, and usually have to take them in the waist.

Everything looks amazing on you Tanya (as always). I think you can wear true skinnies, and as you know, I am very picky about who I think can wear skinny-skinnies.

I take a 27 because of my waist and tum, so I doubt a 26 would work for me. The rise looks too low anyway (for me, not you). But I will enjoy them on you

Thanks Laura!

Yep, I do get almost all of my jeans online. I can find much better deals that way although it does take time and patience. I am addicted to premium denim but refuse to pay full price. I have yet to pay a full price for any of them.

The Roxannes came from Bluefly ( they were on even bigger sale when I ordered them):

http://www.bluefly.com/Seven-f.....detail.fly

Both R&S pairs are from SmartBargains:

http://www.smartbargains.com/g.....8;t=Search...prod.8

I rarely have the opportunity to try them on in a store, although when I find myself, in say, Filene's Basement, I will try on everything they have and make a mental note on sizes. I know that I am generally 26/27 and read reviews on sites like Tobi and Revolve clothing to see how particular model runs. I am fully prepared to send them back if they don't fit ( I got another pair from Bluefly whose rise is too low so it's gone back), and loose the shipping costs. But that usually happens once in five times so I think it's worth the risk considering the savings. I also try to familiarize myself with my favorite brands and know how they generally fit ( e.g. Joe's runs a tad big, R&S small, 7's usually TTS).

p.s. Where do you find your jeans? And if it's online, do you go to a store to try them first, or do you guess on the size? I find jeans hard to buy online unless I already own something nearly identical ....

Wow, Tanya, you did really well! You look fantastic in everything. I love the 7FAM coated skinnies and think you could tuck those into your Docs - or do you think that's too much sheen between the skinnies and the boots? I also love the pinstriped skinnies! Such a fun twist on the usual jeans. Look forward to seeing how you make outfits with your new pants!
