The gap of skin does not bother me. I think Angie has written about it; I’ve experienced it and it is annoying. I was originally thinking of wool/cotton knee highs but have realized those maybe aren’t easy to find either? It would also depend on your activities for the day - if you’re mostly out walking, shopping, and only sitting at a restaurant table it’s probably fine! If you’re sitting at a desk at work or visiting someone’s home and wanting to feel put together, it might be annoying.
