Nodding my head in agreement with Ornella and Angie.
Alana - there are websites that will let you upload a pic(like the last one you took) and 'try' on frames. This helped me tremendously to narrow the selection down - especially since I could where my glass and look at the new frames!

Alana, finding specs is really hard and to be honest, I think you did an absolutely BRILLIANT job. Even if these are not perfect, they look very nice and show that you have superb instincts. So if you return, go forth in the confidence that the next pair will be even better.

YES. The "arms" of the frames are too delicate. Try a deep red, purple or blue.

Thanks everyone.

Angie: what do you mean --the temples are too delicate? When I ggogle, "temple" seems to refer to the arms of the glasses--is that what you mean? Or the area where the glasses and the arms meet (that is what I would presume is the "temple" on a pair of glasses).

I have never, in my life, returned a pair of glasses. But, I do think I would like to get these right.

So, the shape of the top is right.

A colour would e an option --a strong colour? A pale one? These also came in purple (pale metalish). There is a LOT of white from the thickness of the lenses which give the black framaes a two tone effect. I'd like to minimize that, ideally, but it is not something I will see when I try on frames, so that's a bit of an issue.

Is there a good primer on choosing glasses out there?

My anxiety level is sky high.

Thanks again, I really appreciate all of your votes and opinions.

I love the uplifting shape of the new pair but I think a stronger frame would look even more cool/current if that's what you're after. Not sure how to explain it, but I think you need to go bolder! :) You won't regret it. I liove glasses to be statements rather than blending in, so take my advice with that in mind.

The new black specs look a lot more updated than the silver Alana, so good job there. That said, may I suggest looking some more. I find the temples on these too delicate. The shape around your eyes is good though. Your eyes are centered and the top of the frames follows your brow lines really well.

I vote try a colour too.

You have the prettiest smile Alana :)

I think your new glasses looks great on you. The shape works well with your brow line and your eyes are nicely centered. That having been said, I hope Angie pops in with her comments. She is such an expert on the right fit, shape and color of glasses. I recently purchased two new pairs and will say that it took me about two months and trying on probably at least 20 pairs, including posting about 4-6 different pairs here before I decided on which ones to purchase. I prefer not to rush buying specs.

That said, I believe you should return them if you have any doubts. I have found in my life that if I had doubts about an item, for whatever reason, that item was soon purged. You should be 100% satisfied. No compromises, especially for something that you wear a lot.

Buying new glasses is quite stressful I find! They are a commitment. And expensive of course. Also I can't see to judge the frames. One of the best things about getting contacts was that (ironically!) I could make better choices in frames ...
All of that aside, I love these, I think they are more youthful than your older frames, and they really look great :)

I really like the black frames on you, so beeing too harsh is not an issues at all to my eyes! I like the contrast they make on your face, much more trendy and sophisticated. But as Ornella said, they are a bit too small or narrow, for your face. You could go for wider, and just a bit thicker frames of some kind. But I like the new ones as they are much better than the older ones, that's for sure, they also have a happier/smilier shape, wich I think Angie would also aprouve:-)

I'd like to see what Angie thinks about these so I too can learn, as I'm on the fence.

The new ones are another league than the old ones and based on that alone I'd say keep. But, I think they are a bit narrow for your face and I think you can carry off a bigger and/or more prominent frames easily, so no issues with the harshness of black vs. silver on these.

I understand the time pressure about the return window and the holiday, but I'd err on the side of the caution and rather not keep these if was unsure, especially given the cost. If there is any chance you can wait until you return, I'd leave the search for then. The hunt for the right frames is on average a long and tedious one, as many of us know very well.

I think they look great! No comparison with your old ones. And they aren't too 'loud' for you at all, I think they are rather low-key actually. But I felt the same the first time I went from thin metal frames to more visible ones. I'm sure you will get used to it after a few days and then you won't want to go back, with frames as flattering as these ones!

I like the new ones! They are much better than the old ones, IMO. I would keep.

Sometimes we just need to get used to seeing ourselves in new frames. The last time I got new frames, I liked them in the store, but when the glasses came back from the lab, I decided I hated them! I was mad at myself for about a week. Then I started noticing that they kind of looked good...and then I switched back to my old frames for comparison and decided that the new ones were definitely better. So I would give it some time.

lyn*, surely you mean mm--not inches?
Interesting--how did you figure out those numbers? I just measured my old glasses: 50cm for the lens (at centre) bridge, 15cm.
They feel fine. I am wearing them, now. I want my skin to heal soon--so the sooner I can quit the old glasses the better.

Hmm, my lens width has to be about 55" and a bridge of 16"; so for the longest time it meant I could only get men's frames :p

I think they look fine on you - how do they feel? I guess you won't know until you get them adjusted tomorrow. Good luck!

lyn* are you sure they aren't too small for mine? That was one of my first thoughts when I saw them when I went in to pick them up tonight--I just felt my face was HUGE.
When the sales woman gave them to me I actually thought thy must have got the order wrong--put the lenses in the wrong frame. But they had my fitting picture on file--
I have to go in tomorrow to get them properly fitted. They only had one optician in the store and three customers waiting for him before me--and I just had to get here and ask you guys what to do.....

Oh! I've seen those frames! They're too small for my face but I tried to cram my fat face into them anyway - love them, and they look so lovely on you :)

It looks like I'll just have to vicariously live through you!

Deep breaths...

Oh, thank you. I feel like I can breathe again. I've had my current glasses for seven years.

Joy--hahaha, my prescription is in the stratosphere. Drugstore glasses won't cut it, unfortunately.
Lyn--the white you see (on the lenses?) are my lenses. They are very thick at the corners. If you are talking about the arms, they are tiffany blue as the frames are from Tiffany&Co.
