That was my whole reason for going there — I had lost track of how long it had been since my last checkup so this was a surprise. They really don’t want to put an old prescription into new glasses without a checkup, for good reason! </p> <p>Krish, I look awful in most glasses. Finding the right ones is key! There is seomthing about the proportions of my small face and large features that make most glasses look like *too much* on my face. But too small frames and my eyes look closed in. I think the upward lines of the new shape are flattering. I confess I always had a little bias against “cateye” styles because I associated them with little old ladies in my youth. But those were exaggerated cateye styles — modern ones are a different thing.</p> <p>It’s incredible how many glasses look downright awful on me. How did that time go so fast? So they did my checkup and determined my prescription has changed a little. Soooo...to get new prescription in my old frames, or choose some new ones. Well, I love my old glasses so the bar was very high, but I found new frames that I think I like even better! They have a slight cat eye shape, and even though it’s hard to tell in the photos, the frames are a very dark green, with blue at the bottoms and on the bridge. The sides are a brown tortoiseshell that picks up colors in my hair. The overall effect is very neutral from a distance with my coloring, but I like that they are colors that work well with my wardrobe and my eye and hair color. They are not a huge departure from what I had before, but I like the new shape. </p> <p>What do you think? I’m not sure I could be swayed away from these even if someone hates them, I like them that much. </p> <p>Pics 1 and 3 are the new ones. Pic 2 is my old specs for reference. I will still wear those, too. My prescription hasn’t changed so much that I can’t still use my old glasses as backups. </p>
