Just here to empathize - another small head here. It is worth looking a bit more, though. I am sure you will find something a bit better. You need the right proportion for your delicate features. Though I know it won't be easy. It takes me ages to find frames that work. Best of luck. xx

Lyn67's link is actually a great example of how cat eye frames should fit. They are large, but her eyes are still pretty horizontally centered in the lenses. Still a really dramatic effect and great shape. Hope you can find something similar in a narrower lens size, Deborah, as this shape suits you beautifully.

I like the shape on you, but I think these look a bit wide/large on your face. I share your fit issues and have looked in the children's section more than my fair share of times as well, so I sympathize. However, it seems that in my last visit to the eye doctor a few months ago, more options for a small face seemed to be available. I chose two styles by OGI -- I have no idea if that brand is available where you are (they're made in Japan, I believe), but their styles seemed to work well for a small head and face. I can't recall if they had cats-eye styles though.

Like the shape on you. Have you tried any white ones? And cobalt blues are knockout on you. The kids have some wild color choices, a plus.

First of all, I adore the idea of a cat's eye shape for your pretty face Deborah. Not only will they work with your face shape and hair cut, but the style in itself works with your overall style IMHO.

But I'm afraid I do find these oversized for your delicate features. I like the weight of the frames (as in not too thick) but to my eye, they look too wide at the temples...slinking away now...

Deborah - the frames are very stunning on you!! You have such beautiful large eyes and brows I never guessed you have a small face. Welcome to my world!! I have a small head, small features, close deep set eyes and children's frames fit me best. OTOH the childrens frames in the USA are often poorer quality, excessively and cheaply embellished and twee. I love a cat eye and it's my preferred style but they are almost non existent here. I think Angie's rules on frames are awesome but they only work for those who have well spaced eyes (not close or far set) and don't need a progressive lense. If I centered my eyes I would have little round glasses which would do nothing to balance my face. I consider frames "corrective" not just for my eyes but to balance my features. Most important is to work well with the brow line and color and shape need to contrast and enhance. I do argree with her that frames that "lift" at the temples are most flattering. I think your choice looks awesome and I could not worry as much where the eye sits as long as the frame balances and harmonizes with your features. Awesome!!

Deborah, I have the same problem as you and others in terms of eye centering, which is why I rarely wear my glasses. Knowing your constraints, I think these look good on you. I like the lift of the cat and the shape with your face, and think these will go well with your fab wardrobe. If you don't have a strong prescription, you will avoid my biggest nemesis: indent head at the sides of the glasses where my shortsighted prescription makes my head look smaller. On larger frames it can look a bit odd. The hard thing about glasses is the prescription can make the end product appear different from just trying it on in the store. How they'll look w/the script might be a good question for the associate.

I love the shape very much, but I think they are a bit too big. It's not the width of the frame so much as that your eyes aren't centered within the frames and are really far to the center of the lens. Your lenses are actually made with the assumption that your pupils are at the center of the lens, since it is curved; if your eyes are so far to the center of the lenses you might not get the best visual correction.

Is there a skilled optician at this shop who can tell you if these frames can actually work for your prescription? Or can you check with your own eye doctor?

A very technical explanation of why this is important to get good visual correction:
http://www.daniellivingston.co.....e.html?m=1

Oh I hear you on eyeglass centering woes! My head is long and thin and my eyes are close together, so they are never exactly centered in frames, no matter what. I really like these glasses even though they do look a tad wide. I think they look about the same as mine do on me (the frame shape is similar too). Frames are extremely hard to capture accurately and get a total straight on photograph.

There will be a measurement printed either on the temples of the glasses, or on a tag attached to them. The first number is the width of the lens. Mine (pictured below) are 52mm which is absolutely as wide as I dare go with my small face. I try to stay in the 49 - 52 mm width range.

Thanks Staysfit and DEB. I am a little limited by finance at the moment. If money was not object I would definitely go to one of those cool frame places and no doubt find something wonderful. For the moment I need to settle for what I can get at my usual place. This was the smallest in this size. I will go back and make sure I didn't miss anything tho.

Interesting Deborah. When you brought up this subject a few months ago, I suggested a black cats eye frame for you. I like these a lot in essence, but wonder if they are just a tiny bit wide for your small features or perhaps this is how this style is meant to look. Maybe it won't matter if they are for reading and computer only. Can your Optomotrist source the same style in a slightly narrower width? Either way, I think you are on the right track.....

I love them, and I like the look of large bold frames, but I purchased a pair for myself. They are very flattering and set off your features. From my recent experience with glasses shopping, I learned that it's hard to photograph frames. They may be a bit wide, but not too bad. I think you can pull these off. Sometimes they carry frames in a slightly smaller size and can order them for you to try.

Really love black, and quirky cat specs on you, Debs, Master 12 has good eyes:-) My only concern is they look a bit too big from front(nr2). But it happened to me to see the same in some of my picties, and not the real life. I don't speak about centering-and I understand your challenges-but they look a bit wide on temples. Otherwise great frames, see what others say!

Hi Ladies,

Had my eye test today and as I suspected by prescription has changed and new glasses are in order.

Before I show you, I feel I need to explain :)

I have a very small head!! I have quite naturally highly arched eyebrows. Having assessed the variety of style available, it seems a bit of a cats eye style works best. Many of the glasses are just too big. I did consider colour but there was nothing in a style that I feel works for me. And I do seem to naturally gravitate to the black!

Ok here they are. I haven't made a final decision but these are the ones I am considering. My photos are awful and that probably doesn't help. The SA really liked these on me and so did Master 12. My eyes are not absolutely centred but they weren't in ANY pair of glasses, even the childrens ones.

My feeling is that the roundness and shape of these glasses will add a soft touch to my generally hard edge looks.

Oh they are for reading and the computer.

Thanks so much for taking the time to look. And while I might sound like I am trying to convince you on these, I just needed to explain the challenges I face, and am very open and grateful for your thoughts.

ETA: Added #4, another front shot.

xxx Deborah
