I'll wear them with trousers, of course, but I also like the way *some* ankle boots look with dresses and skirts - it sort of depends on the overall line and proportion; and of course sometimes I like a look on other people that I don't quite like on myself.</p> <p>My previous pair of ankle boots was just a bit shorter, and for some reason just did not look good with dresses - too stumpy somehow. I think these might be a little better. I've been looking for the "perfect" pair of black ankle boots for a couple of years to replace my tried-and-true-but-tatty ones. (I live in Minnesota, and black ankle boots are a staple in my wardrobe for 7-8 months of the year. I also have "fussy feet" so I'm extremely particular about fit for a basic like this.)</p> <p>This pair is from La Canadienne, and they are expensive but will be worth it if they are indeed "perfect". I received them today from Zappos and.... knocking wood, crossing fingers, tossing salt over my shoulder... I think they ARE perfect for me!! I'm thrilled because my last pair of ankle boots, from Sofft, purchased from Zappos 2-3 years ago, was a compromise; and the ones before then were perfect in look and function but not quality ($10 on clearance at Target - I bought two pairs and wore them for a total of 3-4 years!). </p> <p>Here they are.
