I had read a few months ago that HBC had sold off the zellers stores and the plan was to use the proceeds to update the Bay. I thought it was the one they were keeping.</p> <p>I agree that it is a shame that one of the oldest Canadian retailers may no longer be Canadian. I felt that way about Eatons too though. Now I knew that The Bay had been bought by an American company and there were talks that changes would be coming. </p> <p>Has anybody else heard this? I googled it and I know Bloomingdales has been in negotiations. </p> <p>I wish The Bay could have stayed Canadian - it was the oldest and longest running Canadian company and I think it's sad that it met its end. I am, however, excited about Bloomingdales coming to my home town. If only it had been a Nordstrom! </p>
