Oh thank you, dear Angie <3 I am loving the palette. And thank you for the eye compliment. They are my father and grandfather’s eye color. No one else has them in the family except for my sister and I.

Oh notsaf! WOW! I love that you call it sour khaki! It's gorgeous and a very helpful way to train the eye to see it. I used to call it baby food/baby poop green - but it doesn't found very pretty haha! Sour Khaki makes me think of toasted and charred lime and kiwi slices -- all of the sweetness eaten up by the smoke and fire.

ahhh! that makes sense than. I can see how that would help you!

I have slowly removed black when I can. I am trying to reintroduce warm charcoa., if and as I find it. I have been adding chocolates and such and been much happier. A very sharp-eyed friend noted I go a bit ruddy in black. It's subtle, but once pointed out I couldn't unsee it. That said, finding bottoms and jackets in colors other than black has taken a little more work.

I love your pajama bottoms!! They look very comfortable. I don't currently fit into Uniqlo, but will keep them on my radar!

It's okay - it might sound sad but my analyst sussed out my wardrobe churn stemmed from *too many* colours (I did a complete style analysis, not just seasons), so restricting the shades has actually helped me get dressed lol. I thought I'd miss black etc, but now I wonder why I didn't make chocolate brown my main neutral years ago!

It's funny that you mentioned pyjamas, considering I'm literally wearing DA pink joggers today haha! They're more teaberry than rosewood - my pajamas incorporate shades I don't always wear in my main closet (they're Uniqlo rayon joggers, if you're wondering).

I think every season has a lot of colours, but the key aspect is the shade/ tone of each colour. Here's to us finding more deep & warm (aka DA) ones!

Rachy I don’t even know what to say except thank you! I’m so surprised and elated by all of the beautiful feedback for my new outfit. In some ways I’m like shouldn’t I be wearing traditionally flattering, serious, sexy, sensual clothing… because it’s so ingrained into me from all the systems I got into the last couple years. But I feel so free and me in this—kookiness and all.

suntiger bummer about the pant sizing. Admittedly, my friend told me about them back in Oct or so. Wish I had bought them than. But I was so worried about the practicality of satin. Of course! Here is the link.
Match Womens V-Neck Short Sleeve Plain Long Dress Casual Beach Dresses with Pockets #152 https://a.co/d/dwpsN08

Jenni your observation is heaps of confirmation. Occasionally I do wonder if I should be DW. But I never feel good in it despite some people liking me in it.

Zaeobi so interesting! I didn’t know CMB had moved to a more tonal system. I’m a little sad your analyst restrained you. I see her point though—why keep someone from wearing all the colors? You know? Anyway… I’m glad I’ve inspired you! As for rosewood: I actually really love that color!! It is more a lower energy color for me? (I especially have liked it for pajamas.) but I do love it. There’s something very sensual about rosewood too. Good point about side and cargo pockets. Annnd! What a great top for making an item a jogged!!!! If and when I get some wide leg pants, I’m going to try it! Let me know how you do finding and adding more DA colors. Hopefully the photo including my fans above give some extra reference. DA is a world of color despite not being a winter or spring season. Somehow I feel we associate color with the clear seasons. Maybe because they wear such bright and contrasting colors? But autumn both in nature and color analysis tends to wear a lot of color too in its own way.

@Ket
Interesting - I think the TCI system (The Color Institute) is quite different to CMB
(Colour Me Beautiful), which is what I did). *Technically* speaking I wasn't diagnosed as a specific season but rather tonal directions - so whilst my 'Deep & Warm' subtype *should* correlate to the Dark Autumn season, my analyst actually curated specific shades into my personal colour booklet - here are the purples I was given!

Thanks for reminding me that there are *more* colours than this that I can wear (the rosewood you mention would look just as good on you as teaberry - colours I wear in makeup but keep forgetting I could also wear in clothing!) But in my appointment, the analyst was amused at the fact that I was open to *all* the colours, so she *purposefully* gave me fewer shades to restrain me a little (she said people usually have to be coaxed into trying anything but neutrals - whereas we had to fight to include them in my case, lol!)

As for the cargo pants, I think the issue of 'flattery' depends on the pocket placement - where exactly it hits on the leg. In a satin fabric it's not as big of a deal because of the drape, but personally I like side pockets to be past my knees - front pockets are okay on the thighs, but I think at that point I'm more focused on the practical advantages of being able to put stuff in pockets without it sliding out right after (often the case with hip pockets) lol.

Also if you are still unsure about wide legged trousers, Trinny Woodall often uses the hair tie trick (on her YouTube channel) to temporarily change them into a jogger silhouette instead (she hikes the hair tie over the hems then blousons it out over the ankles to hide the line). Think she uses one of those spiral hair bobbles (rather than a flat one) so it stretches more comfortably over the leg. Worth a try, perhaps?

Amazing difference between the winter clothes/lipsticks and the DA ones. Everything looks so cohesive in the DA pic, just perfect for you.
Again like in clothes, you sort of see you first rather than the lipstick in the DA pic.

Well ladies -- the week got hectic! So just catching up now :D

Jaime, I really enjoy color, so glad you enjoyed my exploration as well! I find there is even a pretty big difference between even dark winter and dark autumn--despite them being neighbors. I tried on some dark winter lipsticks again this past autumn. It was fascinating to see how prominent and blue my under-eye circles became. It's funny how you mention turning into a martian in yellow-greens. I don't find myself turning colors so much as losing color in cooler greens. I can get very washed out in too-cool colors. PS I love your hair! Every time I see your replies I think, gosh Jaime's silver hair is so enviable! Had to share that with you <3

Suz, I'm so glad you suggested the triplication! Thank you!! I am tempted to get backups right now. It feels kind of silly to do that, but darn! I love these dresses! As for the chartreuse... I hope to find it again one day in a better size and style for me. I used to have a really unique knit scarf that had dyed-to-match rabbit fur strips in it. I still wish I had that scarf to this day. It was a Maurice's clearance item, of all things.

Joy, maybe this will be our year to find more light olive I can wear some cooler greens. But they cannot be winter season cool!

Helena, that's really how I felt in winter clothes and lipsticks: dramatic! So dramatic, it actually took physical, mental, and emotional energy to get dressed and go out in those colors. I know that sounds weird, but it just wasn't easy. I am definitely going to play more with Boho Rockabilly!! I don't know how it will come out. But it feels kind of exciting. I've even considered doing Boho Bombshell as a close second alternative.

You absolutely glow in these colours! Although I agree with Jaime that you pull off the winter ones beautifully, they read (to me) more dramatic whereas the dark autumn ones look right at home and very harmonious. Well done duping the outfit that worked so well for you ... I love your boho rockabilly moniker and am looking forward to seeing where it takes you this year!

OMG, you are so clearly in the right colours for you, now! That is a fascinating exploration. I agree 300% about your judgements, in those most recent photos. WOW!

LOVE both your new dress colours and I'm so glad you triplicated. They will go in the wash, you will always feel fab in them, they are easy to dress up or down or accessorize. Fantastic!

I also love that green. I agree with Zaeobi -- dark mossy chartreuse is a good description. But if you weren't happy with the sizing, the cut, and felt worried about the quality -- better off not having for now. I can see you in a blouse like this, though.

Fascinating exploration of colors Ket! You look beautiful in all of the lipsticks, but can see that the first and second are less organically you or cohesive.

MsMaven, thank you so dearly! My lipstick is Almay Lip Vibes in "Love Yourself." It's a darkened, neutral-warm red. If you try it, let me know what you think. It's a really nice formula -- very emollient and comfortable--and a good price.

Dark autumn was a surprise to me too. I've been pegged as a winter for years, due to having a dark hair and fair skin. My dad and sister have the same eye color, and both of them are autumn seasons, funny enough! I DIY draped myself into dark autumn; so not professionally draped. Someday I would like to be professionally draped just for the heck of it.

Just for fun, here are photos of me trying out winter seasons and then DA. It still makes me laugh -- especially bright winter. I used to wear that lipstick in public!

Picture 1 is true winter. (Eek!)

Picture 2 is bright winter, which turns neon on me. (Double eek!)

Picture 3 is dark winter. Not bad, but I felt kind of feverish in it.

Picture 4 is dark autumn, right after I discovered DA.

Star, thank you for such lovely compliments and words <3 I do remember your praise for the silhouette. I am equally in love with it. I purchased another peplum jacket in a deep, saturated moss/olive green. We'll see if that jacket works in shape and color. I hope to find more zingy jackets.

Zaeobi, maybe 2024 will be our year to add new and beautiful DA colors DA gets a surprising number of purples. (It's that dash of winter that really helps, I think?) If you look at my fan photos, there are some surprising berry shades towards the bottom of each of the red strips. (Some lean more purple, some more red.) Then there is a surprising rosewood/fig strip in the corporate fan, and each fan has an orchid strip. There's also an almost blackened aubergine on the dark/black strip. Having said that -- I haven't found DA purples plentifully available in retail. This is really the first DA purple I've found; everything else has been a winter subseason. I love your idea for the cargo pants!! I will have to try this. Old Navy offered a satin cargo pant in the same glorious golden green; it's all sold out in my size and wasn't on the clearance rack. I feel certain about the leg shape, but not sure if side leg pockets would be good on me. Maybe I'll find the cargoes for resale on eBay and can try them. I think a lot of people buy things on sale and then resell them.

Jules, you're very welcome! Hopefully it helps you continue to find some more colors for yourself -- or give you an idea of what is possible. To be fair: prior to pairing a peplum jacket with the dress, I never felt the dress shape was flattering on me. It's a very square, shapeless, t-shirt type shape. It's got wider kind of "square" sleeves -- also not my best. But.... the jacket and styling rescues the dress and really turns it into something magical. It is a good lesson to me that if I'm up for the work, it's possible to turn something basic or even not-so-great into killer with the right styling and additions. More than that, it helps me trust my gut and just play more with fashion. I definitely learned a lot from the boho rockabilly outfit.

Janet, oh, thank you <3 It really is satisfying. I wasn't expecting to buy more. Truth be told, they've had these colors available a few months. But I thought the dress shape wasn't good on me and avoided getting more. (And the dress isn't necessarily good on me.) Thankfully, my rockabilly experiment showed me the dress is lovely on me if I style it well.

Wow, this is so interesting and instructive - especially to me having similar colouring. Case in point, I don’t love either dress colour in pic#1 - just as a matter of personal taste - BUT I absolutely love them *on you*! Very illuminating for my own colour thinking. Thanks for including the TCL swatches too!
The gorgeous green is already a fave of
mine and a no-brainer on you, but I agree about leaving the pants behind: they’d get runs and pills and become loungewear very quickly, I suspect. On the other hand the Amazon dresses are perfect for building a capsule for right now.

I have no idea what to call that greenish colour either, but it was one of my 2023 goals to add more of it to my wardrobe (I believe I called it a 'mossy olive chartreuse', if that helps?) You look great in the other colours of those dresses too! I think my colour palette is slightly different to yours, but I never noticed DAs 'could' wear so many purples - I struggle with finding them!

I have two pairs of satin cargo pants that dress down without feeling too casual, but I agree that fabric type is more suited to 'smart casual' events rather than everyday errands (tendency to retain water stains).

As for the cut, I'm not sure how to describe this but could you add ankle ties (or 'cuffs' via press studs on a wide strip of fabric) to blouson the wide legs into a more manageable silhouette? It's something I've been meaning to try myself but still sits in my alterations pile lol (photo is Tom Ford - you could try it out first with similar gauntlets or ankle strap shoes (worn *over* the pants) to see if you'd like the look before cutting).

These days though, it seems young folks are wearing such trousers with chunky trainers or slip-on shoes with thick flatform soles. Something to consider, perhaps?

Singing like Julie Andrews at the top of my lungs from a mountain top:

My new dresses from Amazon arrived!

Suz encouraged me to duplicate the green dress from my new bohemian rockabilly outfit turned uniform. I'm really glad I listened! When I purchased that green dress last year, they offered all of 4 colors. Their colors have increased and I jumped at two potential dark autumn colors.

The colors match the stock photos -- shock and delight! They're very good dark autumn colors. Like, stupendous! The dark orchid is a bit more muted in real life than the stock photo. But I'm quibbling; it's otherwise spot on. Except for a pair of panties, this is the first DA purple I've found. I'm pretty happy. The wine red is especially juicy. It's the first red I've found that isn't overly browned or darkened. I took some photos with both of my TCI dark autumn fans for good measure. Everything harmonizes quite well to my eye.

I'm almost tempted to buy duplicates of the duplicates. (Kidding but not kidding.)

The fabric is a bit lighter and thinner than the green dress. It also contains some spandex now. But it isn't cheap and flimsy.

Also... this dress has pockets. Need I say more?

Only downside, is it's all polyester, save 5% spandex. But for $20 a pop, and real mom life, I just refuse to complain. Down the road I may copy the dresses into better fabrics. For now, I am grateful.

A bonus: the green satin pants that got away. Clearance rack Old Navy delighted than disappointed. These satin track pants were only $10. But I was swimming in a too-large size, and there weren't other sizes available. I maybe should have bought them to have tailored. But I honestly still don't feel I wear a wider leg well. And this has wider leg. To pull them off, I would want a heel. I just don't wear heels much. And I can't imagine satin would hold up to mom life well. However, I still draped them and took a good, albeit dressing room, photo. For future reference. Perhaps I'll find more of this tantalizing green this year. It's the color of my eyes and I have a feeling it would be stunning on me. Kind of a hmmm.... toasted chartreuse? Green pear? Baby food poop puree? Hoping I find more.
