Well, I went to try these on today...

But, turns out my local Just Jeans doesn't stock them, or any levi's women's jeans at all - only the bigger stores do. (We may have a few "real" shops but only the small version of them).

The SA said to try ordering online or go to Brisbane! I'll add this to the list of things I want to do in Bris in October for our YLF get together...

Sounds interesting. I just wish Levis would up the denim quality of their ladies jeans.

Hm, 60k women and all they came up with was three butt shapes (which are essentially S, M and L)? I could have come up with that sans the 60k women!

Sorry, joking...kind of. I'd try them on b/c I'd like to get some cheap straight or skinny leg jeans for casual wear...but I'm not holding my breath. I carry my weight in my lower bum/upper thigh which makes searching for skinny jeans a chore.

Another bold curve here. I'd be interested in trying them on. I'm always glad to hear that someone out there realizes we're not all built the same and is trying to do something about it.

An, that sounds promising - I would definitely be a 'bold curve' girl as well. I would love to hear field reports from anyone who gets to try these on. As I said in the 'what's your favorite 3 pairs of jeans' comments, I haven't been able to wear Levi's for a few years, although I lived in them when I was a teenager.

Eddie Bauer, among others, has three 'fits' of pants, with the Blakely being the lots of difference between hip and waist category. I've had a lot of luck with it, although slightly less with their analogous 'curvy' jeans.

I also had really decent fit from a pair of Fit Right straight legs from (of all places!) Fashion Bug, but I think I bought too big (or I'm now wearing more fitted jeans - thanks YLF) so I don't wear them anymore.

I saw the Levi's ad, but wondered if they have the fabric figured out to hold its shape. . .

I got two pair of Levi's bermudas this summer. The one with some secret tummy shaper holds its size VERY well (they are indigo blue), the other bags out and must be washed each wearing (these are cotton/spandex in white denim).

Lane Bryant's 'Right Fit' has the same ideas and the waist measurements are as small as 34" and hip sizes start at 36" if anyone is interested in trying them. They use color coding for the different types. I have one pair and they fit very well....

I went to try them but unfortunately the store I was in didn't have the 'bold curve' in the style i was looking for. So I tried the 'demi curve' (in the straight leg). Predictably they gaped a bit at the back so the 'bold curve' could be promising for me. The concept makes sense to me so it will be interesting to see if they work.

I caught the tail end of a piece on this on our local public radio station a couple weeks ago and meant to look up more info. Thanks for doing that for me with this article! I for one would be very interested in trying these out IRL when they reach the East Coast.

Theresa, please report back once you try them out; I'd love a field report.

I received an email from Just Jeans (Aussie store) last week to say they were in store, and I'm going to try a pair on tomorrow if I get time, or over the weekend - they are definitely appealing to me!

One of our other jeans stores - Jeasnwest - make their own brand of jeans with variances, and their jeans for girls with ample hips/bottoms and skinny waists aren't too bad but I'm always open to new ideas!

I read this article from the SF Chronicle today about Levi's new Curve ID line, which has three fits:

"Instead, Levi's analyzed body scan images of 60,000 women around the world and came up with a new fitting system, organized around three basic body shapes: slight curve (straighter figure/flatter fanny), demi curve (evenly proportioned hip and seat) and bold curve (smaller waist, larger seat). The shapes are based on a formula developed by Levi's involving waist, hip and seat measurements."

Sounds intriguing if it works out. The article doesn't say when the new jeans will be rolled out, but implies they're available now.
