So true - unless it's something you would have bought at a much higher price, cute and cheap isn't good enough! Sounds like a good approach for all wardrobe categories.

I tried on #5 at DSW. they looked like a viable option, but were way too much fabric on top of foot for me. The person who could wear that would need a higher volume foot. Love the red sandals you show too.

Another thing that should be tattooed on my wrist: no cute and cheap!

When I go, 'that's cute and so cheap', totally needs to be my cue to walk away.

Sounds like your approach is working, so why not carry it on to your shoe selections for the new season?

I have your problem, too, or at least used to. Cute and on sale? Sure. Well, those tend to be the biggest mistakes. I'm better off planning and choosing carefully and spending more for something that will work well and is super comfy. Looks like you're doing the same. Feels good, doesn't it?

For me the lifestyle thing is the hardest pill to swallow. As much as I love heels, wedges, etc, I just don't find myself wearing them anymore. So this year I'm gonna have to work hard to find comfy flat shoes. I'm also debating closed vs open toe bc of where I live (semi-desert) and the cobblestone streets I tend to walk on.

the post about last years footwear mistakes made me think of why last year was the first year I actually had none. But last year I actually bought fewer pairs of any kind. The reasons last year were keep nothing that was not comfortable and absolutely no purchases that were cute and on sale (my big weakness). Now I am taking this even further-carefully analyze what I have, and purchase only what will fit into my wardrobe of existing styles, colors, etc. And what will work best with my lifestyle-and maybe adding some fun like the red ones.

So I am adding one pair of lower block heel either peep toe booties or sandal booties in a neutral nude like color, and a pair of comfy fun (other than red) flat sandals. soooooo many choices-photos of a few below--

This approach is working with jeans and tops so far this spring too...
