I like the classic styles. Some of the dresses on mainstream sites are too short for my taste. I prefer a cap sleeve also. I was pleasantly surprised, I guess I had a misconception that modest would mean dowdy.

The dresses are nice! Let us know if you get anything from them. Around seven years ago, when tops were fairly short (midriff-baring), I use to get longer tops from Shade and Modbe, two other Mormon companies. Good quality; I still wear them today.

A cap sleeve is sufficient...and lengths go to roughly the knees. Which probably wouldn't be such a problem for someone of more average height. That's why I was so excited by my Talbot's skirts last month...rare for me to find one that works, let alone 2!

Taffy, I hope you don't mind my nosiness but how much of the arm do you prefer to cover, is it just the shoulder, or do you prefer a full length sleeve?

I just started laughing when I saw this post! (still am in fact...) I am mormon, and with the coming of summer clothes have been again frustrated by the number of sleeveless tops that I always want to wear, but can't.
So imagine my surprise when seeing this post! :)
Let us know how it works out if you get anything!

Julie makes a great point. I 100% agree.

I have heard of Shabby Apple and think they have many beautiful dresses... and I had no idea they're a Mormon brand. Modesty isn't just for Mormons!

I very much like the look of these dresses, I have recently had a dress made using vintage fabric because I was getting so tired of short hemlines. I think there is something very alluring about someone who is modestly dressed.

I had heard about Shabby Apple before, from a comment on a YLF blog post years ago,, and loved the look of them. I like their idea of a dress that you don't have to wear anything (ie cardi or cami) with, The other company's dresses looked nice too, on a quick glance.

wow, those are some great dresses! I actually browsed shabby apple's website before and had no idea it was Mormon! I wish they were closer to my price range...

Religious issues aside, if your body type requires you to cover up large portions of your body, finding skirts and dresses can be hard. First off, I'd like to say that while I prefer not to look trashy, I also have no particular interest in wearing modest clothing. I do, however, prefer to wear knee-lenght dresses with high necklines, not to cover up, but because it suits my body type. An example of the kind of dress I would love to wear (if I had a place to go where it would be even remotely appropriate) is the gold lace knee-length gown with a completely see-through bust that Trinny Woodall wore to a red carpet event years ago. It suited her pear shaped figure perfectly, and was still very sexy. I wish I had a pic to show you Anyways, I'm in dire need of some cool a-line day dresses, and it finally occured to me to search for "modest dresses". Here are two very modern Mormon websites that I found: http://www.shabbyapple.com/
